Stan Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 One just has to wonder.... Why, if I spent 2 hours a night watching TV that is fine, BUT if I spend the same 2 hours building things such as internet communities, a convenient place to acquire some of the typical adventist food, the "Brethern" in various (Outside of my Conference) and sundrie places go crazy over this. It even become such a topic of conversation and even meetings that involves scores, perhaps hundreds of people. You would think they were to be more concerned over the zero growth in certain places. bevin Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Because, Stan, you are building a community that they perceive as threatening some aspect of their existence. Don't let the complainers get you down. /Bevin Quote

D. Allan Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Look like a good place to buy Adventist food! They don't want any competition, I'm sure. ;-) Quote dAb O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

Stan Posted November 17, 2006 Author Posted November 17, 2006 It is incrediable how low those can be sold at... with the $10 discount, it is cheaper than a lot of these foods sold 10+ years ago. Finally, Worthington is selling for a reasonable price.. Norman Byers, N.D. Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Hi Stan, One thing I realized when I moved here from Canada and that was the free market and entrepreneurial spirit. The more a product sells the more will be made and this can drive the price down. They should be happy. I am a sales consultant and used to not like it when we got new consultants because I thought it would mean less money for me. Well that's a selfish way to look at it. The more consultants we have the better for the company and when the company is doing well we all benefit by having special to offer which gives us all more money. CyberGuy Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 The "brothern" are always threatened by communities of Adventists. They have a power to reach the world they do not have. For good or bad. That frightens them. Quote Riverside CA
Administrators Naomi Posted November 17, 2006 Administrators Posted November 17, 2006 This may not be a good thing to mention, but why does the food from Australia taste better(oops, sorry) than ours? Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Moderators Nan Posted November 17, 2006 Moderators Posted November 17, 2006 I assume these great bargains are available only in Northern Climes? Oh well, the Customs Down Under would probably have something to say anyway. Stan, continue with your vision and feel sorry for those who cannot see beyond the status quo. Quote
Moderators John317 Posted November 17, 2006 Moderators Posted November 17, 2006 Doesn't St. Paul somewhere say something to the effect that no matter whether their preaching about Christ hurts me, at least they are preaching about Christ? So, then, who cares whether someone's right action hurts us or not; we can only be happy they are doing what is right. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Moderators Gerr Posted November 17, 2006 Moderators Posted November 17, 2006 For some reason the grass seems always greemer on the other side. I am renting a house on a farm, and there's a bull that jumps over the fence now and then and comes to eat the grass on the lawn which I don't think is any greener than that on the other side. Gerry PS: Maybe it's that dark brown stuff (forgot what they call it) that they put on just about everything. Quote
Moderators Gerr Posted November 17, 2006 Moderators Posted November 17, 2006 That would be great. I think the closest place where I can get these vegetarian foods is in Charlotte, 80 miles away. Let us know when the frozen foods become available. Those opposing you are probably doing so because they see it as hurting their pocketbook. Gerry Quote
Neil D Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Stan- I have never seen an agressive PR campaign on Worthington, Loma Linda, Cedar Lake or any other vegetarian foods. Infact, I have never seen an adverstisment outside of the Church publications. Even the Vegitarian/health magazines are a bit skimpy in advertisments. Basis marketing 101 says that if there is an untapped resource, one should exploit it to make money. Where are these Ads? So, tell your detractors that it is time for the food portion of the Adventist church to recieve more advertizing, ie the internet. And who knows, the price may come down such that others can use the product more and bring the cost down even further.... Amelia Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 They probably feel that they have a captured market and thus don't need to advertise. Why spend the money when most people believe they can only get these foods in one place. Which is not true as several chain stores in my area carry Worthington, Cedar Lake and Loma Linda products. There is even one couple that has advertised foods for sale in the NPU magazine for years. I dont see national TV ads for Morningstar, Boca or Gardenburger either. But you do see print ads for these products in natural and vegie magazines. The fact is, anyone with a business license can purchase any of these products wholesale and resell them. ABC's cannot legally block free trade. They need to get over themselves. Oh FYI, check your union magazines because ours has a $20 off 2 cases coupon on the back. Neil D Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Quote: They probably feel that they have a captured market and thus don't need to advertise. Well, in all honesty, they have captured the Adventist market... but there are vegans and vegitarians and wanna-bes markets....And I suspect that market is larger than just the Adventist market. Quote: I dont see national TV ads for Morningstar, Boca or Gardenburger either. But you do see print ads for these products in natural and vegie magazines. Sure, but these people marketing them are not 'adventist' based. They are going after those 'other' vegitarians... Our adventist manufacturer already have a financial base from the Adventists. If they would expand thier advertising markets to the general public, they could sell more product, and the overall cost would come down as well. Quote: The fact is, anyone with a business license can purchase any of these products wholesale and resell them. ABC's cannot legally block free trade. I agree with you, Amelia..The problem is that the ABC acts like it has a monopoly on the products. The ABC needs to rethink thier total PR program and advertise thier books, AND Bibles, and bible assessories [ie bible commentarys, concordances and the like]. They need to quit selling to JUST adventists and move out into the general market. There IS a desire for the things we sell, but nobody knows about our message let alone what we sell. Oh well....just me ranting and raving again...What do I know???? Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw

aka Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Publicly promoting online our Adventist related food, books, music items is very advantageous to all in the business. Publicly letting this Forum be a spring-board for heretical teachers promoting twisted error of doctrinal substance which looks demon inspired is not at all advantageous. Especially to those readers here not well grounded in our Denominational teachings. This is the thorn in the side hurting those who are out there critizing what goes on at Club Adventist. I understand such harsh comments and why they appear. I for one will not join the separationist perfectionists who wrap their robes around them and cry 'unclean' 'unclean'. There is more to say for those flying around here in Forum with glowing wands of light to lighten up the darkness then for those in a far distant place that shout into it with condemnation. Quote
