Sugar Substitutes

Sugar Substitutes of some 19-types are regularly added to food products that people commonly eat.  Some, such as monk fruit are natural products.  In small quantities (a half can of soda a day) they are probably safe to consume.   In larger quantities there  is often a connection between an increased risk of some cancers, diabetes, depression, strokes, blood clots and more.  For more information on this, see the article on this subject, written by Sally Wadyka (Sugar Substitutes are Everywhere), in the   October 2024 issue of Consumer Reports.
