President Joe Biden will address the nation today at 11 a.m. ET following Vice President Kamala Harris' loss to President-elect Donald Trump. Biden's address comes a day after Harris delivered her concession speech, promising to keep up the "fight that fueled this campaign." In her 12-minute remarks, she acknowledged the stinging loss while committing to a peaceful transfer of power. Meanwhile, Trump is ready to move on his agenda and could announce staff picks within days, sources said, as his allies are already jockeying for high-powered spots in his administration. As Trump prepared his next steps, CNN reported that special counsel Jack Smith was in talks with the DOJ about winding down the federal cases against the president-elect.

Months before the election, an Axios-Ipsos Latino Poll, in partnership with Noticias Telemundo, found that the percentage of Latinos who say they support building a border wall and deporting all undocumented immigrants had jumped by at least 10 points since 2021. An Axios Vibes survey in April also found that 45% of Latinos supported mass deportations of undocumented immigrants. ? Key points: Lawmakers in California designed their elections to improve accessibility and increase turnout. From automatically receiving a ballot at home, having up until Election Day to turn it in or having several days to address any problems that may arise with their ballot, Californians have a lot of time and opportunity to vote. It comes at the expense of knowing the final vote counts soon after polls close.   All-mail systems will almost always prolong the count. Mail ballots require additional verification steps, so they can take longer to tabulate. Slower counts also come alongside later mail ballot deadlines. In 2015, California implemented its first postmark deadline, meaning that the state can count mail ballots arriving after Election Day as long as the Postal Service receives the ballot by then. This year, California ballots may arrive up to a week after November 5.
