Amelia Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I just got off the phone with my boss. Albertsons has informed our company Crossmark that they wont be renewing our contract so as of Feb 1 2007, I will be out of a job. Crossmark will try to absorb as many of us as possible into open positions in our areas. Also our names are being given to the new brokerage for possible hiring with them. Why do companies always do this at the holidays? Its the pits. Halfstep Denise Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I'm so sorry Amelia! I will be praying for you! The reason they do it during the holidays is the "I", "Me", and "My" thinking! They are only thinking of the bottom line and not about anyone else, IMHO! Halfstep Denise Quote "If you're all God has, is God in trouble? -- Dr. Frederick K.C. Price

Disapointments will wean us away wordly occupations. Even sin(when repented of) becomes a mechanism to push us closer to HIM as we experience His Love and Forgiveness.

Administrators Naomi Posted November 30, 2006 Administrators Posted November 30, 2006 Amelia, I am so sorry. Been there, done that. You always go on to something better ... I will earnestly pray that your future be bright and the holidays not be so stressed. Courage Naomi Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Morning Glory Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 I am so sorry to hear about this "development". It is just plain cruel for employers to do this sort of thing at the holiday season. I will definitely keep you in my prayers that something even better will come your way. Morning Glory Quote Kindness is the oil that takes the friction out of life.
Dr. Shane Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 I will keep you in my prayers too. The timing probally has to do with the contract dates Albertson's has with this other company. That is a bad deal too. I have been involved with management decisions where we have actually decided to fire someone but to wait until after Christmas to tell them. That is probally more common in smaller companies. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted December 1, 2006 Moderators Posted December 1, 2006 So sorry, Amelia. I'll be praying for you. I didn't know you were a food broker. I have a good friend who has done several things in the food management business. She was a food broker for several years, but her company lost some of their big contracts, just like your situation, so she got out before her employer went broke. Since then she has been in a food manufacturing business... whenever a company needs to have something like a nutrition bar manufactured, she calculates the protein, fats, carbs, etc., and sends it to the test kitchen for putting together a new product. Then if the customer likes it and orders a big supply, she makes a commission - besides her regular salary. God bless you in your creative search for new work. alb Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Oh, Amelia! I will pray. I have every confidence that God has something wonderful in store for you. Take courage; you have many people who care about you and we will all support you. Quote

Amelia Posted December 13, 2006 Author Posted December 13, 2006 I want to thank everyone who has prayed for me in this situation. God is truely good even though I have not been very attentive to Him of late. He has sent a few opportunaties my way recently. Even if these don't pan out, I can see my Father is still blessing me. I am so unworthy. PRAISE Him for His faithfulness. Moderators Nan Posted December 13, 2006 Moderators Posted December 13, 2006 He is good Amelia. He is showing me that too this week - a few issues which I will not discuss (not family/marriage, that is all fine) - He makes provision for our needs and helps us get a better look at ourselves along the way. Clio Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Amelia, I will pray for you... but having been the blessed recipient of several layoffs in my career, may I offer this? Although it felt like the end of the world at the time, when I prayed my way through it, the next stage of my life that Abba took me to was so awesome, so wonderful, and soooo much better in so many ways that I could only praise Him. And in every case, had I not been part of a layoff, I would have missed out on His blessings totally! Prayers ascending for a long time, Amelia. Clio Quote A heart where He alone has first place.
puddles Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Hang in there Amelia! You are SOOOO loved by God (and us!) God's not finished blessing you yet. You are so faithful to bring things to our attention, report the unusual, find the most amazing photo's of things that I have ever seen, and I could go on and on. You are one of the most amazing ladies I've ever "known" and I personally have been so blessed by you. Still praying for you! Quote
Administrators Naomi Posted December 18, 2006 Administrators Posted December 18, 2006 Hello Amelia, Yes God is good ... all the time. Thank you for your update and will continue to pray for you and that doors will open for you. After 8 months of being unemployed I can tell you that you will survive; there are avenues available and you will be amazed at how events unfold. Courage Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
