Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted October 4, 2024 Moderators Posted October 4, 2024 Bibles in Schools: Oklahoma is expected to submit a proposal to purchase some 55,000 Bibles which will be placed in public schools. As a point of interest, it seems that eh proposal will only allow for Trump produced Bibles to qualify for purchase. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/oklahoma-defends-bibles-in-schools-proposal-after-report-that-only-trump-s-might-qualify/ar-AA1rIbKq?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=DCTS&cvid=81ee851ad9a64b99a9b5a573b2700ee8&ei=12 Quote Gregory
bonnie1962 Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 I wasn't aware there was a Trump produced bible. Even if the Trump produced bibles are the standard King James version, what kind of an idiot would make that kind of demand. Is there something that prohibits a student from bringing his own bible if that is something that is important to him/her. Quote
bonnie1962 Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 It sounds as if these bibles are endorsed not produced by Trump but endorsed. Big difference in meaning but still is out of line for public schools https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/oklahomas-request-for-bible-supplier-for-schools-match-version-endorsed-by-trump/ar-AA1rIJOp?ocid=BingNewsSerp Quote
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted October 7, 2024 Author Moderators Posted October 7, 2024 On the matter of Bibles: * Is the New King James Bible allowed, which has generally replaced the original King James Bible? * So, an approved Roman Catholic Bible is not allowed. * Bibles in the native language of people who speak other than English are not allowed. * Bibles that are written in a simple English for people who speak another language are not allowed. * In general, this seems to be to constitute a violation of the religious rights of various people.
