Congregatlional Pastors:  In general, SDA pastors are centrally paid by a Conference and not by the congregation that they serve.  In recent times, this has somewhat changed with local congregations in the U. S. hiring a locally paid person who may pastor along with the Conference pastor.  The Oregon Conference has recently undergone major financial stress which has resulted in reductions in pastoral staff.  The following article reports on the efforts of the Medford congregation to fund a local-hire pastor.
