Conservative, Liberal, Traditional, Progressive, or . . . What?

I am often referred to as a liberal Adventist. For some this would be an unwelcome allegation, to say the least. But it does not really worry me. In fact, I tend to see it as a badge of honor, and I would be quite upset if I were widely regarded as a conservative Adventist. However, since both terms—liberal and conservative—have acquired so many connotations, many dislike being labeled with one of these epithets.

to be put in a box? err bin?

im bigger than any box

He looks at everyone the same HIS OWN 

His children cant help themselves

 so many promises embedded in a fleshy heart He freely passes out

the supernatural becomes the most natural thing

If all are the same to God, then that would assume no one would be lost

It really isn't that difficult to spot a liberal. Not all Trump haters are liberal but most seem to be. Go thru the politics forum and it is pretty obvious. Free country so far so nothing wrong with either. There are nut cases on both sides. The most glaring differences, especially  the last decade are in social issues, including come one come all at the border and racial issues. As a conservative I don't care what your lifestyle is, just don't find it necessary for me to accept whatever it is as normal. I can't think of anything I think is sillier than disliking someone because of the color of their skin. Just don't continue to blame me  for slavery and all racial issues. I have four sons, if I would not accept them coming home and telling me I now have a daughter don't provide treatment or counseling for them behind my back. What you would decide to do in your family is not my business as my family is not yours. There are other issues that make each side fairly easy to determine.

Circumstances had me spending election day with a liberal. Very nice lady. Was a very trying day as her main topic was Trump and all his sins. A good portion of which could be directed at Biden/Harris or was actually a liberal "sin" We stopped for lunch and the conversation stayed centered on Trump. I suggested she not worry about it, vote her conscience and let God take care of it. Then I became one that belonged to the Trump cult. A woman in the next booth over heard us and came to our booth. Telling my friend the advice she had just been given was the best she would hear all day.

Liberal and conservative are very hard to define, especially as we have so many different options that get both labels. In the religious field on the one hand those who minimize the Bible are seen as the liberals, and those who maximize the Bible are labled as conservative. But those who question 1844 as well as those of us who support 1844 are Biblical maxamists, but the Fordites are called liberals and we supporting 1844 are the conservatives. But many of us believe that the Bible teaches women's ordination, and others believe that the Bible does not teach women's ordination, so here we who believe in women's ordination are considered liberals and those who are against women's ordinaiton are seen as the conservatives.  There are people who question Mrs. White's inspiration and those who believe in her ordination, the questioners are called liberals and those of us who believe in her are conservative. But there are prople who see her pre-1888 writings as from God and her post 1888 writings from what she read, her increased interaction with non-Adventists, and very much influenced by people such as Willie, Daniels and Prescott, so the everything before 1888 are called consdervatives and those who include her post 1888 writings liberals.  The list goes on and on and on.  We need to develope better vocabulary. 

Same thing with the terms "Old" and "New" Theology. "New Theology" has been used as a lable for such groups as those who did not accept the fundamentalist view of inspiration. It has also been used for Mrs. White's post 1888 writings and Adventists who believe in the trinity. It has also been used to seperate the Fordites from the rest of the Adventists. And the so called "Historic Adventists" use it for anyone who does not fit their subgroup of Adventists, no matter how similar or different any specific idea is to theirs.

Not true.  A conversation with someone  on any worldly matter will soon tell you who is liberal and who is conservative.  Most would be surprised if told they were one or the other based on 1844 or 1888. I don't think most of the current generation within the SDA chruch has much if any knowledge of those two dates or Old or New Theology. Outside SDA if reports are true most voters do not attend any denomination or profess any specific religious belief
