Neil D Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 unaware of her odd behavior over the past several weeks as her mother confirmed her daughter is attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. After weeks of speculations, the 20-year-old actress’ mother, Dina Lohan confirmed the rumors despite AA’s privacy policy. “It’s true,” Dina told Ryan Seacrest’s morning show on KIIS FM radio in Los Angeles. “A lot of people she hangs out with go and it’s a positive thing.” While with her 12-year-old daughter Ali who was promoting her Christmas album, she answered several questions regarding her older child. When asked if she is still giving advice to Lindsay, she said her daughter is actually doing fine and doesn’t need her advice anymore. “As a parent you tell them what you can tell them, but she’s 20 and I’m not gonna say stay home and don’t go out,” she told the KIIS host. “That’s a ridiculous thing to do. When you’re 20 you have to learn a lot on your own so I’m there for support and I’ll obviously give her my opinion, but she’s fine. She’s OK.” Leslie Sloane, Lohan’s publicist strengthen Dina Lohan’s statement saying "Yes, she's been attending some meetings, and it's going to be a slow process. This is a positive. Let's hope that the press doesn't turn it into a negative." Speaking on Lohan’s behalf, she asked the media to stay out of it and quit following Lindsay to and from gatherings. She was spotted going into an AA meeting in Los Angeles at 7.30am on Wednesday, November 29. "Maybe if (the press) backs off on her she'll be in a good space," she added. "Let's see if we don't have to hear about it every day, and they're following her and trying to find her. Because that will just really not be good." A close friend of Lohan’s said she has been attending the meeting for a while and kept silent about it hoping to cure herself. "She has attended several meetings and has hopefully decided to turn her life around - this time for good. She is out of control," her friend told the New York Post newspaper. According to her friend, Lohan avoided spending her Thanksgiving Day with her family fearing “someone would force an intervention on her." With a bit of luck, the young starlet is getting all the help she needs. Her family is apparently anxious that "she will really get serious about getting sober. And drop out of the limelight for a while. Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Dr. Shane Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 Quote: the 20-year-old actress’ mother, Dina Lohan confirmed the rumors despite AA’s privacy policy. Actually this is how Tradition Eleven reads, "Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio and films." The long form of the tradition reads, "Our relations with the general public should be characterized by personal anonymity. We think A.A. ought to avoid sensational advertising. Our names and pictures as A.A. members ought not be broadcast, filmed, or publicly printed. Our public relations should be guided by the principle of attraction rather than promotion. There is never need to praise ourselves. We feel it better to let our friends recommend us." The reason for anonymity is so we don't praise ourselves. "We feel it better to let our friends recommend us." Her mother breaking her anonymity is not breaking the tradition. If the AA member came out in press or camera and annouced it, that would be in violation of the tradition. BUT AA doesn't punish its members. It is believed living by the Steps and Traditions brings about sobriety and a peaceful existance with others. Those that violate the Traditions or don't do the Steps miss out on the peaceful existance and often return to drinking. No other punishment is needed. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
