Raw milk recall

Bird flu virus has been found in a batch of raw milk sold in California, the state Department of Public Health said. The brand Raw Farm recalled quart and half-gallon sizes of its raw milk with a best-by date of November 27. The company said that it is using its standard safety procedures to monitor cows for illness and that milk from the recalled lot should be off of store shelves. Health officials said no illnesses have been associated with the lot of raw milk and that pasteurized milk remains safe to drink. Medical experts have also long warned against drinking raw milk due to the risk of illness and death, and it's not allowed to be sold between states. According to the FDA, there's no scientific evidence that raw milk helps with illnesses or allergies.

Stanley recall

Stanley, the drinkware brand that exploded in popularity on social media, issued a recall of roughly 2.6 million travel mugs over potential "burn hazards," the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Thursday. The recall applies to all Stanley Switchback and Trigger Action stainless steel travel mugs sold in the US, which have polypropylene lids that were found to loosen once exposed to "heat and torque," therefore posing a burn risk. Stanley received more than 90 reports worldwide over problems relating to the detached lids — 38 of those complaints were tied to burn injuries, with 11 of those requiring medical attention. The drinkware brand posted instructions on how to identify models and replace lids on a recall website.

Lay's chips recall

Frito-Lay is recalling some 13-ounce bags of Lay's Classic Potato Chips because they may contain undeclared milk. The recalled bags have a "guaranteed fresh" date of February 11, 2025, and were distributed to stores and online distributors in Oregon and Washington, the company said. No health problems related to the recall have been reported. However, someone with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk could have a dangerous reaction if they eat the recalled chips and should discard them immediately, according to an announcement. No other Lay's products are affected.

Kia recall

Kia America is recalling more than 80,000 vehicles due to improper wiring that can prevent airbags and seat belts from deploying in an emergency. The recall includes 2023-2025 Niro EV, Plug-in Hybrid and Hybrid vehicles. To remedy the situation, dealers will replace and reroute the floor wiring assembly, as necessary, for free. Owners will be notified by letters mailed in March. The recall follows one in November, when Hyundai and Kia recalled more than 200,000 electric vehicles to fix a transistor in a charging control unit that could be damaged and cause the loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

Tuna recall

Certain canned tuna products sold at Costco, Trader Joe's, Walmart and other retailers have been recalled due to botulism risk. There was a defect in manufacturing the "easy open" pull tab on the lids of the tuna, branded as Genova, Van Camp's or various store brands. The company said there's a risk of food leaking or contamination with Clostridium botulinum, or botulism, without proper sealing. Symptoms of the rare but potentially fatal disease include muscle weakness, blurry vision, difficulty speaking and paralysis. People with the recalled tuna cans should discard them immediately or return them for a refund.
