Fighting Spirit: A Combat Chaplain's Journey: is the title of a 2024 film, now being shown in the theaters, telling the story of the chaplains who serve in the U.S. Military.  Some 419 are known to have died in the service of their country.  Contrary to what some may think, military service is focused on combat operations and it is not a plush civilian job.  That includes the Reserve components as well as the active duty ones.  On a personal basis, I served as a chaplain in both a Reserve unit, a National Guard Unit (the first SDA in any NG unit) and for 18 years on active duty.  I was the first Army chaplain to go into combat with a COED unit.  The result is that I have strong convictions on the role of women in the military.  In short:  The U.S. military today could not fulfill the mission given to it, if women were restricted as to their military service.
