Members phkrause Posted November 23, 2024 Members Posted November 23, 2024 Public schools required to display the Ten Commandments? Such a rule sounds surprising, but earlier this year, lawmakers made it real in Louisiana. And if you’ve kept up with the news, you know there's an active lawsuit challenging it. Shawn Boonstra dives into the controversy, exploring not only the line between church and state but also God’s reason for sharing His moral law with us in the first place. https://www.voiceofprophecy.com/authentic/episode/s8e09 A Moral God Standing as mortals at the foot of Mount Olympus, what would we see as we gazed up at the gods? How would it compare with the view of God at Mount Sinai? Join Shawn Boonstra this week for a study in divine character. In the world of our ancestors and their gods, Yahweh was shockingly unique—and much of it has to do with the Law He gave at Sinai. https://www.voiceofprophecy.com/authentic/episode/s8e10 Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Gustave Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Apart from the ceremonial aspects of the law the moral aspects can be seen in literally every ancient culture. Each group that formed a society laid down moral laws that are stunningly similar to what we find in ancient Israel. I take this to mean that God is absolutely moral and ingrained in each of us is a moral compass. What's different are the ceremonial aspects - those things that people are not "commanded by nature" to observe - these ceremonial rubrics require supernatural communication which is why they stand apart from the moral aspects of natural (AKA Moral) laws.
