I looked it up, and it's true. In Trump we trust? I'm not surprised.

Claim:
In February 2025, a statue of a goat covered in $100 bills featuring the face of U.S. President Donald Trump was displayed at Trump's private Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.

In February 2025, several weeks after U.S. President Donald Trump took office for his second term, a rumor began to spread that a statue of a goat that had golden hooves and was covered in $100 bills featuring Trump's face was on display at Mar-a-Lago, Trump's private club in Palm Beach, Florida.

For example, the anti-Trump X account Patriot Takes posted photographs of the goat on Feb. 10, 2025, and referred to it as an "idol" (archived), in reference to the story of the golden calf in sacred texts:

As of this writing, the post had gained 7.3 million views and 9,400 likes. The claim also appeared on Reddit, with similar pictures, and on Facebook

The goat is real and is part of a project known as Project G.O.A.T., which stands for Global Offensive Against Trafficking. Because of this, the claim is true.

The project is an initiative of Athletes & Causes, an organization in Florida that pairs athletes with philanthropic efforts. Its founder, Rob Canton, also runs the Grady Goat Foundation in Florida, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fundraising through goat yoga classes in order to support disadvantaged children.

The Project G.O.A.T. "About" page explains that the goat sculptures are all unique and are auctioned off "to spread awareness to fight and prevent human trafficking & sexual exploitation of children." The page includes a photograph of the goat after which the statues were modeled, who lives at the Grady Goat farm.

The site also links to an Instagram account that first posted about the goat at Mar-a-Lago on Feb. 1, 2025 (archived?

On Feb. 10, the account posted again about the goat, sharing a video of the sculpture sitting on a table in a luxurious dining room (archived?

Comparing the dining room in the video with photos of the dining room at Mar-a-Lago, we were able to determine that it was filmed at the private club. The two posts on Instagram showed that the goat had a golden tail and golden horns, and that its base was inscribed with the words "I love you" and Trump's signature.

Snopes contacted Project G.O.A.T. by email and received a response from Canton, who confirmed that the goat had been delivered to Mar-a-Lago. He added that the auction for the goat was scheduled for Feb. 27, 2025, and no starting price had been set.

Canton also said this specific goat sculpture was his own artwork. He provided a photograph of it before it was sent to Mar-a-Lago and before Trump signed it:

The photo showed that Trump's face appeared on the $100 bills where Benjamin Franklin's face normally appears, with the motto "IN TRUMP WE TRUST" where the words "ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS" would appear on a legitimate bill.

Although many comments on social media posts about the sculpture were critical of the artwork and of Trump, Canton said he had received a mostly positive response.

"The vast majority of the comments I've seen and received about my artwork have been from individuals that believe President Trump is among the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) businessmen, dealmakers, Presidents, and/or world leaders," he said in his email. "I am pleased that my artwork triggered a ton of discussion and hope it continues to do so..to me that tells me I succeeded in my primary goal when creating art."

The idea of animal statues decorated in different ways by various artists is not new. For example, the year 1999 saw the rise of CowParade, a global exhibit of cow statues painted in different ways. In the early 2000s, Buddy Bears appeared in Berlin, showing statues of standing bears also painted in a variety of ways. The goats have used the same artistic principle, as the Project G.O.A.T. website says.

I was waiting for you to show up. I know about the goat--I have a problem with the In trump we trust.

I'm not to sure that that sentiment is much off the mark either.

Actually you are probably right about the sentiment.  People do have a tendency to vote for those they trust the most. I just find the obsession  with Trump far more alarming than the goat. I disliked everything about our former president. For me he showed his true colors when he denied by silence his granddaughter and condoned by silence  his son denying publically his own child. That to me is dispicable. I could not imagine  four years under giggling Harris . Regardless I could not devote that much time to every word they spoke or misspoke or every look.

I cant fathom that much hate for a politician. We certainly have had some doozies but I cannot remember any that generated such an obsession.

As is usual, the liberal media conglomerates villainize anything related to Trump and lies fester - only now the lies fester and pay dividends, to Trump. Keep them coming liberals. At this rate the midterms might just finish off the Democrat party as we know it.

It will be interesting to see if there is a follow up to this. I have thought for a long time that is Trump was re-elected the conservatives should thank the democrats. Sometimes I wondered if they secretly wanted Trump, they had to have seen his popularity increase with every attempt that was made to bring him down. It certainly has not let up, the obsessive  hatred. You can see that here. It is easy to understand dislike of a politician/president but my goodness how much time can someone devote to try to discredit. Maybe I am missing something but even with my intense dislike of the previous president I cant work up the kind of hatred aimed at Trump

Christians are not finding that a signed MAGA goat on display at Mar-a-Lago is the 'greatest of all time.'

Christians are not finding that a signed MAGA goat on display at Mar-a-Lago is the 'greatest of all time.'

Project GOAT, which stands for the Global Offensive Against Trafficking, is an initiative where 75-pound goat sculptures are auctioned off to raise funds to combat child sex trafficking.

Founders Rob and Debbie Canton of Tampa, Florida had saved seven goats from slaughter and found additional inspiration when one of their goats gave birth to a blind and deaf goat named Grady.

From there Grady Goat sculptures were born, with the first one crafted in 2019.

There have been a number of creative Grady Goat sculptures created since then.

One of those goats is Trump-themed and is currently on display at Mar-a-Lago ahead of a planned a planned February 27 charity auction.

The goat is plastered in fake $100 bills in which Trump's face has replaced Benjamin Franklin's. The bills say 'In Trump We Trust' not exactly in the same place as in 'God We Trust,' but it still had Christians raising questions online.

It also sports a highly-coveted Trump signature at the bottom of the sculpture.

The goat's idol-like look and resemblance to a golden calf, along with the perceived God erasure on the fake $100s, prompted some criticism from Christians on social media, who are against false idols.

Rob Canton, the creator, told DailyMail.com via email that he believed most of the people viewing the artwork interpreted goat to stand for the 'greatest of all time' - a sentiment that he said included Trump.

'I’ve certainly seen a few comments from individuals on social media expressing negative sentiments, but these have all seemed to come from individuals with an axe to grind and history of being triggered by anything President Trump says or does,' Canton added.

The left-leaning PatriotTakes account, which seeks to expose 'right-wing extremism,' shared photos of the goat display Monday morning and stoked some of the feedback.

'At Mar-a-Lago, a bizarre, golden-hoofed goat idol is on display,' the account said. 'The idol is wrapped in Trump $100 bills that say, "In Trump we Trust," replacing God with Trump.'

'The idol's base says, "I love you" along with Trump's signature,' the post said.

Canton pointed out the 'In Trump We Trust 2024' line actually replaced where '100 Hundred Dollars' is written on the real U.S. currency.

On Tuesday, the PatriotTakes continued to post pictures on X of the goat display.

'This should be on display at every MAGA church,' one post said, showing off the goat clearly at Mar-a-Lago.

'New detail: The goat idol at Trump's home has golden private parts,' another @PatriotTakes post said, focusing on the sculpture's undercarriage.

Users reacted by pointing to how this sculpture would be a no-no for those who follow the Bible.

'How did this idolatry work out in Exodus?' one X user commented

'What was it the Bible taught us about worshippers of the Golden Calf in Exodus?' another chimed in

Canton went on to say that despite the Christian backlash, he's 'glad to see the range of emotions elicited by my work and so grateful to President Trump for signing this piece.'

The goat will be auctioned at a live event to support multiple charities at Mar-a-Lago at the end of this month, he continued.

'I’m grateful for the fact that [Trump] took the time to sign and inscribe it, which I believe shows not only his support for the fight against human trafficking, but for the great charities that will share in the proceeds including Big Dog Ranch Rescue and it The Hometown Foundation.'
