Christianity is on the decline in the U.S., in part because many members of Gen Z and younger millennials don't identify with any major religion, Axios' Carly Mallenbaum writes from new Pew data.

  • Fewer than half of 18- to 29-year-olds identify as Christian (45%), and nearly the same portion have no religious affiliation (44%).
  • 78% of seniors identify as Christian.
