Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted March 20, 2025 Moderators Posted March 20, 2025 Walter Veith is a controversial figure in Adventism. However, what he illustrates is the fact that considerable diversity exists in Adventism and individual members and even congregations have a greater freedom of belief and practice than is generally understood. https://spectrummagazine.org/views/analysis/walter-veiths-conspiratorial-communication-creates-chaos/ And https://spectrummagazine.org/views/analysis/despite-antisemitic-and-other-crank-theories-walter-veith-to-speak-in-a-northern-california-conference-church/ Quote Gregory
Gustave Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 I've watched some videos on youtube of this guy - he's a militant anti-trinitarian. Is it safe to say this man appeals to the more "theological liberal" members of the SDA Church? Quote

Asia Joe Posted March 21, 2025 Posted March 21, 2025 One of the main attractions to him is his testimony. He went from an atheist university professor to a creationist. They finally fired him. He has many interesting creation videos. But probably the main thing that attracted so many was his videos on Masons. His father-in-law was a high mason, and when he died, his books went to Dr. Vieth. They were supposed to be destroyed, but he revealed many secrets about that group. phkrause 1 Quote

In a theological context those who depart more from apostolic / historic Christianity are liberal whereas those who are less departed are considered more conservative. This is not to be confused with liberal / conservative in a political context. Lutherans (Wisconsin & Missouri synods) are considered conservative compared to Jehovah's Witnesses - because Lutherans "conserved" or kept more of apostolic Christianity than did Jehovah's Witnesses. Based off what I've seen of Mr. Veith he appears to be radically liberal. phkrause 1 Quote

Gustave Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 Appreciate the question phkrause, I'll do my best to explain the way I'm understanding Mr. Veith. Over the last week or so I watched two videos from Mr. Veith, "Confronting Babylon's False Doctrines Repairing the Breach" & "The Character of God On Trial". The gist of those 2 videos is that "God's character" was assailed by Lucifer at some point prior to the origins of the earth and that this slander was circulated by Lucifer to the host of Angels and also to E.T.'s living on other planets throughout the galaxy. The slander is likened to a legal charge made against God [impugning Father God's Character] thereby requiring a reaction to vindicate "The Father". This whole concept is a rejection of "Impassability" and the elements of "the plan" to vindicate "The Father" include a categorical rejection of the Impeccability of Christ, which defaults into a rejection of the Trinity Doctrine. In the Repairing the Breach video Veith posits that the initial Luciferian mischaracterization of The Father's character seeped into the Apostolic Churches and from there spread into Protestantism where it contaminated Lutheranism, Calvinism, the Baptists, Methodists, etc. Veith goes on to describe what separates the Seventh-day Adventist Church from ALL THE OTHERS is that the other Churches [whether they know it or not] are foisting a false Christ whereas Adventism preaches the real Christ. Veith states that while correct doctrines WON'T save you those correct doctrines can direct you to the Biblical Christ - Veith then asserts the SDA Church has the correct Doctrines. In the Character of God on trial video Veith claims that ONLY after the Protestant Reformation and ONLY in the United States - in the 19th century was God ready to raise up a Church [of anti-Trinitarians] who would draw out the pearls of truth out of the wine of Babylon and the Reformation. The following is a quote from that video, "“humanity has to determine if God is just OR God is not just BECAUSE the Devil accused God of being unjust”. i.e. God needs to get some vindication. That statement is totally anti-Trinitarian, it presupposes that the Almighty was / is required to justify or explain actions rooted in Divine wisdom. I offer the following Scriptures for consideration "And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? Daniel 4,35 Except Lucifer, aliens on other planets and humanity itself???? Isaiah 45,9 & Romans 9, 20: Both of which align with the historic Christian understanding that God is not required to provide explanation or vindication for actions rooted in Divine wisdom. I'm no expert on Walter Veith's video catalog but I'm pretty sure the more I would dig the more outlandish things I would find. I can say for certain that the Doctrine of the Trinity precludes the possibility of God needing to be vindicated by humanity or that E.T.'s on other planets in any way need to insure that at the end of days that, “the character of God stands clearly revealed to all created intelligences” That's also from the video. Without my spending hours sleuthing through Mr. Veith's other videos can anyone here confirm or deny that Veith teaches that Christ could have sinned and lost His Salvation? Quote
