Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted July 22, 2025 Moderators Posted July 22, 2025 The Cashew Nut is grown on a tropical tree. which produces a fruit which looks like a medium size apple. That fruit has one cashew nut attached to it at the bottom of the fruit. The apple sized fruit is generally not eaten. Rather it is pressed and the extracted juice is mixed with other drinks and sold. Because the actual nut is only part of the production of the tree, cashew nuts are priced higher than other nuts, generally. How many of you have purchased "raw cashew nuts" from a grocery store in the U.S.? No one! It is against Federal law, in the United Sates, to sell raw cashew nuts. I can assure you that you have never purchased raw cashew nuts in a US grocery store. What you actually purchased had been clearly processed? Why? Can anyone tell me why it is illegal to sell raw cashew nuts in the U.S.? NOTE: If you ever ate a raw cashew nut, just as it came from a tree, you would never again do such. Quote Gregory
