Administrators Gail Posted December 19, 2006 Administrators Posted December 19, 2006 Is there anyone here for whom Christmas is a depressing time? I am thinking of you at this time... those of you who are alone and have nowhere to go, those who lack the money to make it all the kids anticipate, those who are struggling with pain and sorrow rather than joy You are remembered in my prayers You are loved, though it feels like you have been forsaken Praying for the heart peace that Christ gives :) Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted December 20, 2006 Moderators Posted December 20, 2006 I recall when I was first alone, after my divorce and while my kids were spending Christmas with their in-laws or somewhere else, I had to really plan ahead to make sure I had something planned to look forward to at Christmas. Being alone and lonely is really bad. [but it's not as bad as being with people and still being lonely.] Inviting someone over for soup and salad supper -- someone who's also alone -- brings such a sense of satisfaction, and you can have great conversations that way. Administrators Naomi Posted December 22, 2006 Administrators Posted December 22, 2006 Being alone and lonely is really bad. [but it's not as bad as being with people and still being lonely.] Jeannie, I have said that many times. When one is still in the 'adjustment stages' it takes a little time to fully appreciate your situation. In all honestly there is no reason anyone should spend a holiday alone unless they desire to do so. We live in a world when half the people are single and many do not live close to family or have a relationship which allows them to be with their family. If you just look around you'll find someone who would enjoy spending time with you during the season. And, I promise you'll receive a great benefit. Having raised my three children as a single parent and receiving no child support my special Christmas gift was coming up with the money to purchase a few gifts. Not usually what the advetisers told my children they should have ... but gifts! My daughter has always done everything possible to give her children a special Christmas. I suspect to make up for some sparse times in her childhood. This year her two daughters are in Russia with their father. She is putting up a brave front but there are glimpses of the deep pain which she is feeling. She could use your prayers. It's not over yet............ Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
