I did a little more looking and found that while Little Richard did attend Oakwood for a time, he left before finishing and was ordained, not by the Adventist church, but a church called, The Church of God of the Ten Commandments. Anyone ever heard of this? Another interesting thing that seems to be fact his father was a Seventh-day Adventist pastor who sold moon shine on the side.

To his credit he has amazed people by delaying the beginning of a concert until after Sabbath has ended, is often in an Adventist church on Sabbath, and buys Steps to Christ in large quantities to hand out even at concerts at times. God is big enough he can even bring good out of such an unusual situation

Good to clear up the fact that he is evidently not an ordained Seventh-day Adventist minister. I really wondered about that one. I remember he stopped playing rock-n'-roll and preached against it for a while during tent services near Barstow, Ca., back in the early 80s. I'm sure he has many struggles and I feel sorry for him and am praying for him. I wish I knew more about him. I have a feeling that he and I share some of the same struggles. I wonder if it would be possible to get him some day to consent to a CA "Interview." I don't know about now but I know that a few years ago he was still living with his mother in Riverside, CA, only a few miles from me. A close friend of mine once persuaded Little Richard about 1981 to go to La Sierra Adventist Academy for a short talk that LR gave to the students at their chapel. He refused to talk about music or to sing. He obviously changed his tune since then.

A 5th grade friend of mine, who himself went on to become a professional singer, shared little Richard's records with me, and they were the first rock n' roll of that kind that I ever heard. They were so different from anything I'd heard before that they almost frightened me. I remember that I felt a weird sensation as if something strangely wicked and mysterious had crept into that empty class room. Little Richard had a reputation at that time-- about 1960--for being a big womanizer, rather like Elvis Presley. Later when I heard he was an SDA, I just about fell over. I have to admit I still enjoy his recordings. I wonder now if Little Richard would approve, do ya think?
