hobie Posted September 24, 2025 Posted September 24, 2025 We are seeing a surge of emotion and the rise of what some call Christianity after the shooting of Charley Kirk, even the President appears to be urging it on. "The assassination of Charlie Kirk has sparked a surge in Christianity among young people, a demographic that has been turning more secular for decades. The weekend after Kirk's death, a pastor in Pittsburgh reported new congregants arriving in busloads for Sunday services. The church leaders he spoke with reported bigger crowds, with some schools reporting increases of 15 percent in mass attendance. Additionally, more than 400 students at Texas A&M University attended the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults class near the campus. The word 'Jesus' trended on Google, with the most searches originating in Utah, where Kirk was fatally shot. This response indicates a significant revival in Christianity, particularly among younger generations. " USA Today "President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Erika Kirk, and more than a dozen others gave speeches to honor the late Charlie Kirk at Sunday’s memorial service, highlighting his efforts to promote conservative values to young people and promote the Gospel on campus. “What was even more important to Charlie than politics and service was the choice he made in the fifth grade — which he called the most important decision of his life — to become a Christian and a follower of his Savior Jesus Christ,” Trump, a self-identified nondenominational Christian, said during his speech. Trump praised Kirk’s legacy of evangelizing the message of Christ and his activism to promote conservative values on campus, saying Kirk was “inspired by faith and his love of freedom” to establish the conservative campus organization Turning Point USA when he was just 18 years old..." Asia Joe Posted September 26, 2025 Posted September 26, 2025 Thank you for posting this. I, too, want to talk about it. Because I have lived outside the USA for 20 years, I know almost nothing about Charlie Kirk. What I am shocked about is the reaction to his death. 1- I am shocked that a large number of people have celebrated his murder. 2- I am shocked that so many young people, from all over the world, were touched by this. I have traveled extensively and can tell you, not many people have fondness for Americans in 2025. 3 I am shocked at the turnout for his memorial. The largest private person in American history. Why? 4 I am shocked that Steve Bannon (Another guy I know little about) has called this "Christian nationalism". Quote Christian nationalism is Christianity-affiliated religious nationalism. Christian nationalists primarily focus on internal politics, such as passing laws that reflect their view of Christianity and its role in political and social life. They actively promote religious and nationalistic discourses in various fields of social life, from politics and history, to culture and science. In Europe and the United States, Christian nationalism ranges from conservative to far right-wing. Wikipedia I never heard of this before. However, as an Adventist, who strongly believes in separation of church and state, these comments are very concerning. As Adventists, we really need to talk about this. If it is truly a big movement, it is big news. Very big news. Quote
bonnie1962 Posted September 26, 2025 Posted September 26, 2025 The more his detractors demonize Kirk the more we will see of this religious fervor surrounding him. Those that hate never seem to learn, the more they pile on, many times unfairly ,the more the object of their hatred is elevated to a mythical level. I am not the only one that believes those that opposed Trump so viciously actually went a long way to putting him back in the white house. Gustave 1 Quote
