Dr. Shane Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 If you have watched "Way Of The Master" you know Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron. They are now marketing a board game that is great for those church socials, youth groups or even just Sabbath afternoon fun. $29.95 to be available in a few days. Intelligent Design vs. Evolution Board Game Quote: "Intelligent Design vs Evolution" is unique in that the playing pieces are small rubber brains and each team plays for "brain" cards. Each player uses his or her brains to get more brains, and the team with the most brains wins. It has been designed to make people think . . . and that's exactly what it does. Members phkrause Posted December 26, 2006 Members Posted December 26, 2006 Looks interesting. I'm guessing this will be available at the ABC? pkrause Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
cricket Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Intelligent Design is not exactly the same thing as Creationism. Quote
Dr. Shane Posted December 26, 2006 Author Posted December 26, 2006 No it isn't. The relationship is sort of like a square and a rectangle. A rectangle is a square but a square is not neccessarily a rectangle. In a simular way, creationism is intelligent design but intelligent design is not neccessarily creationism. I suspect the game focuses on the complexity of life which is where intelligent design is strong and evolution is weak. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... bevin Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 ID and evolution both have species evolving over millions of years, using a combination of mutation, replication, and selection. ID hypothesises that some of the more complex functions were obtained by God guiding this process through some parts of the trickier steps. The actual evidence in the geological record for ID and Evolution is the same - very old rocks contain fossils of simple life forms. More recent rocks contain fossils of a mixture of simple and complex life forms. The rocks and fossils pass many experiments indicating ages of millions of years - indicating that life on earth is millions of years old, and human life on earth is tens of thousands of years. In short, ID and Evolution are practically the same, except the ID'ers claim (without proof) that some gaps are uncrossable without God's guidance, and the Evolutionists claim that the gaps were crossed without specifying how - possibly by God-guidance, possibly by mutation/replication/selection. Short-age creationism has many complex life forms created from nothing, and usually claims that there was a global flood and this flood and a different state of the world surrounding it account for the fossil and other evidence. For some weird reason, that I don't understand but suspect is based on ID's claims to require the existence of God, the short-age-creationists see the ID's as their fellow-travellers - to the point, as in here, of thinking about providing their materials in the the ABC. Works for me - anything that educates short-age-creationists into the realities of the fossil record, and how strongly it points to life on earth being millions of years old and the Book of Genesis being scientifically wrong is fine with me - especially if the ABC sells it! /Bevin Quote
David Koot Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Oh help! Here we go again! If this is going to be a debate, once again, on origins, then why not take it to the Origins forum? Been down this reoad dozens of times. Definitely, some people have their minds made up. IMO a colossal waste of time. Quote
Dr. Shane Posted December 26, 2006 Author Posted December 26, 2006 Since Ken Ham endorses this game, I doubt it contradicts short-age creation. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
