Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted November 22, 2025 Moderators Posted November 22, 2025 Are you aware of the relationship that the SDA Church with the United Nations (UN)? Recently some Adventists have called for that relationship to be ended. The following article explores that issue. https://religiouslibertytv.substack.com/p/church-at-the-crossroads-why-adventist NOTE: Depending on how the above loads on your computer, you may be asked to provide your e-mail in an attempt to sign you up for a regular religious liberty e-mail. That is not required, and you can refuse to provide your e-mail and still access the article. I receive the religious liberty e-mail on a regular basis. It is provided by a SDA Attorney who discusses such current cases which are of interest to people of differing backgrounds. That e-mail is provided in both a free and a paid edition. phkrause 1 Quote Gregory
Joe Knapp Posted December 5, 2025 Posted December 5, 2025 Quote Rather than rush to terminate consultative status, Church leaders should consider initiating a structured review. That review should include: • A clear explanation of what consultative status includes and excludes • A factual record of how the status has been used over the last 10 years • Theological and policy guidance on how to maintain distinctiveness while participating in global forums • Open dialogue with members to answer questions and respond to concerns This approach does not dismiss the sincerity of those who raised the issue. It takes their questions seriously while ensuring that decisions are based on accurate information and wide consultation. Let's break this down Quote Quote This approach does not dismiss the sincerity of those who raised the issue. This is in a response to what Dr Vine has been saying. Quote • A clear explanation of what consultative status includes and excludes We certainly have not had clear explanations of what is going on with the UN relationship and the work of ADRA. If the church had been transparent on these issues, there may have been more people to trust them. As it is, trust is broken. Quote A factual record of how the status has been used over the last 10 years That would be WONDERFUL, however, I do not expect that. Quote Open dialogue with members to answer questions and respond to concerns This is why this has grown to be such an issue. Because this has not happened and never will. phkrause 1 Quote
