Somali Fraudster Gets Nearly 5 Years in Prison for Trying to Buy Justice in Massive Child-Food Scam

In a rare win for law and order, Abdulkarim Farah—a 26-year-old Minneapolis man—was just sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for his brazen role in attempting to bribe a juror during the notorious Feeding Our Future fraud trial.

This wasn't some petty payoff. Farah stalked the juror, coordinated the drop-off, drove an accomplice to her home, recorded the delivery of a $120,000 cash bribe stuffed in a Hallmark gift bag, and sent proof to his brothers on trial. All to rig a not-guilty verdict in a scheme that stole hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars meant to feed hungry kids during COVID.

The Feeding Our Future scandal itself is a textbook case of government-enabled fraud: dozens of mostly Somali immigrants set up fake nonprofits, claimed to serve meals to needy children, then pocketed the cash for luxury cars, real estate, and personal gain. Over 70 charged, billions potentially looted from pandemic relief programs that were supposed to help the vulnerable.

Farah's brothers were among the ringleaders already convicted of massive wire fraud. When the trial turned against them, they escalated to jury tampering—one of the most direct attacks on the American justice system.

Thankfully, the juror (a true hero) immediately called authorities instead of taking the bribe. The plot collapsed, and now Farah pays the price at the high end of sentencing guidelines.

This sends a clear message: You don't get to loot taxpayer money from children's programs, then corrupt our courts when caught. No special treatment. No excuses. Just hard time.
