Joe Knapp Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Pastor Mark was injured in a fall in the woods on northern Virginia. He has had surgery to his hip and is in a wheelchair. The bones heal relatively quick. 6-8 weeks. But the muscles atrophy during this time. Rebuilding muscle is not an easy thing, especially for seniors. As someone who is recovering from a broken ankle, I know he has a long road ahead of him. Let's keep him in our prayers. phkrause 1 Quote

All goes well as most hip replacements usually do,I am expected to be released and walk out of the hospital the same day phkrause 1 Quote
Hanseng Posted Saturday at 03:46 PM Posted Saturday at 03:46 PM How much time you spend in the hospital maybe determined by the reimbursement model. In some places [regions/countries], a person might spend 3 weeks in the hospital. In other places, they might go home the same day even though they both provided a similar or identical service. You can be sure that the reimbursement schedule for the three week stay allows the hospital et al., to be paid for every day. The one day service follows a schedule determined by insurance reimbursement. Insurance will pay, say, 15,000 dollars for a certain treatment. If the hospital/doctors want to keep the person in the hospital for one day or three weeks, the payment is the same. Hospitals may have a quality assurance team that reviews these matters. If one doctor is keeping a patient in the hospital for a week and another for one day, this disparity must be investigated. The insurance companies got wise to the downside of fee for service plans which cost them plenty. Managed care plans, they determine how much money should be spent. One good example was the use of heparin for IV access. Insurance companies were paying for unit dose heparin administered after every infusion. When they went to a managed care plan, the hospital had to absorb the cost of heparin; consequently, it was determined that heparin wasn't really necessary, saving the hospital x amount of money every year, depending on the size of the hospital. phkrause 1 Quote
Hanseng Posted yesterday at 09:23 AM Posted yesterday at 09:23 AM If Trump really wants to make America great again, he needs to reform health care in the USA. What Countries Have Free Healthcare and Who Pays? - ScienceInsights He should also reform the criminal justice system. Capital punishment should be carried out speedily. Just as criminals have a right to a speedy trial, condemned criminals should have a speedy execution. Establish a panel of professional jurists who decide capital cases, putting an endless to numerous appeals. People who commit, say 5 felonies prior to the age of 25, should be expelled from the country, e.g., establish a penal colony. California spends roughly half a billion dollars a year on incarcerartion ~90000 inmates @~$65000 annual cost/inmate. Rape, pedophilia, and attempted murder should be capital crimes. I once had to testify in an attempted murder trial of two inmates who tried to kill a third inmate. Both were incarcerated for taking the life of another, yet they were still trying to kill people in prison. Consider execution for criminals who use a weapon in the commission of a crime. An inmate expressed two sources of pleasure in prison, "taking dope" and "killing people" [murder]. The state should be proactive in protecting the citizenry from criminal acts. The Bill of Rights, the interpretation of which is the source of a lot of the problems in America, should be updated. The right to bear arms, as currently interpreted, contributes to much of the murder and mayhem common in America. And so on. Quote
