Stan Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 "This would make a GREAT Suicide Room" was a statement overheard by a Clergy friend of mine.. "yes it would, all agreed" So my friend went over to the room to see what was going on. All were pre-teens. He asked "What is suicide, and why would you want to do that?" to them. The answer was very clear. "It is when you die, and then everyone comes to a party and they talk about how special you were, and and how much they loved you. It is a big feast, and it is all about you. Then you go to a place where there is no more pain, nor tears or suffering, and you are always happy, and there are no more problems.." This was a First Nations Community. ( Reservations to Americans) It is not unusual for 1 in 3 Teens to take their lives by suicide. At funerals we try and give hope to the bereaved, sometimes... not that good of an idea... or is it? Stan Posted January 18, 2007 Author Posted January 18, 2007 This reminded me of when I came back from my first trip to Rwanda... Came back thinking, "I have never had any problems in life" Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com
bevin Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 I have never understood why Christians are so adamant about hanging on to life, while simultaneously being so adamant about there being a heaven... Witness the Terry Schiavo nonsense, for example /Bevin Quote
cricket Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 It is my opinion that Christians should be adamant about showing others how to live a good life as Jesus showed us. Quote
Amelia Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 IMHO no one should be encouraged to suicide. And I am not including medical suicide for the termanally ill who make that decision on their own. Dr. Shane Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Quote: I have never understood why Christians are so adamant about hanging on to life, while simultaneously being so adamant about there being a heaven... Paul explained that well in Philippians. "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if to live in the flesh,--if this shall bring fruit from my work, then what I shall choose I know not. But I am in a strait betwixt the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ; for it is very far better: yet to abide in the flesh is more needful for your sake."
