aldona Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 I tried posting this in the Moderator forum, but I kept being told "access denied", so I thought I'd post it here instead. I know I haven't been very active here in the past few weeks, I have been trying to keep up with work and getting ready for my overseas trip... It's all happened so quickly I haven't really had a chance to tell you folks about anything. My husband is going to the USA on business and so we figured that if I go along, then we only have to pay for my airline ticket (his boss is paying for his). So we're going to spend 3 weeks in California (LA, San Diego & San Francisco). Neither of us have been to the US before so it will be a new experience. Sorry if I haven't made any plans to catch up with anybody or meet any ClubAdventist people/places on our trip...but quite honestly, our itinerary is already pretty full...and I really need just to get away and be somewhere I'm just a face in the crowd and I'm uncontactable...haven't had much "space" lately and haven't had much "we" time with my husband. So don't fret if I don't post anything for the next 3 weeks - will be back early in March. (From the heat of the Australian summer to the Northern winter... :otb Not the usual direction in which folks go on holidays.) aldona Quote www.asrc.org.au (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Melbourne)Helping over 2000 refugees & asylum seekers each monthIMSLP/Petrucci Music LibraryThe Public Domain Music Score Library - Free Sheet Music DownloadsLooking for classical sheet music? Neil D Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Ok, we know your itenerary is full, so where are you going? I hope that you are able to take in the following places...Not that you need a guide or anything.... San Diego- check out the zoo...it's amazing LA- Ok, Disneyland is still a fun place to go, along with KnoxBerry Farm...[those 2 places are 3 days worth of amusment] Still if you are not into that sort of thing, I am sure there are other places to check out...Loma Linda would be happy to give you a quick guided tour there, I am sure... SF- Check out Pier 39..full of shops and mimes and actors there. It's a nice place at this time of year. Also check out San Franscisco Golden Gate park... I am sure there are others here who could give you other places to check out and relax . 'course, it depends upon what you concider 'relaxing'... GreatLakesGramma Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Don't worry about the Northern winter Aldona. You won't really be experiencing it in southern CA. puddles Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Have a great trip Aldona! However, I agree with Catherine (aka GLG above), Southern California's "great northern winter" usually consists of warm temps in the 70's...if you want a TRUE great northern winter, go to upstate New York (east coast). The news has been reporting they have been "blessed" with around 8 feet of snow! (I cannot imagine having that much snow personally.) And us folks on the east coast have also been languishing in sub-zero temps for several days now. Be safe and report in when you catch your breath! Quote
