Neil D Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 George Bush, while calling out to NATO countries for more troops, completely ignores Canadian contribution to the cause. Despite what most government officials want in Washington, President Bush has of course still decided to go ahead with the move of sending 20,000 more troops into War. He is also encouraging other NATO countries to do so. "When our commanders on the ground say to our respective countries 'We need additional help,' our NATO countries must provide it," Bush said in a speech at the American Enterprise Institute. Since Canada decided to extend the Canadian forces' Afghanistan mission by another 2 years (originally supposed to be ending in 2007), the Canadians have already flushed out more troops to the middle east; so much, that they're desperately seeking new recruits in order to send fresh legs to Afghanistan. During his speech, Bush thanked a number of countries for their contributions in Afghanistan but for some reason, failed to mention Canada, which has about 2500 troops serving there and is one of the largest contributors. Bush remembered to mention even the smallest bit of contributions from countries such as ICELAND and yet forgets to acknowledge Canada. A new tape allegedly released by Al-Qaeda states that Bush's remarks about Afghanistan not being a safe haven for al-qaeda are completely ridiculous since al-qaeda is planning a fierce counter attack that NATO forces might have to face as early as this summer. So not surprisingly, Bush wants NATO forces to be prepared enough to provide resistance to the attack but with the attitude he's showing right now, the support for the U.S. Army seems to be decreasing.
