bevin Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070304/ap_on_re_as/china_politics Quote: A top U.S. envoy on Sunday urged China to be more open about its military spending, hours after the government announced a 17.8 percent increase in its defense budget — the biggest in more than a decade. The $44.9 billion budget for 2007 ... China's total military spending may be much greater since the announced budget does not include key items such as weapons purchases ... the United States, where President Bush has signed a bill authorizing $532.8 billion in military spending for the 2007 fiscal year that began Oct. 1. Of course the USA military budget doesn't include all the black programs either... A nation with more borders than us, less friendly neighbors, and 1.4B people (compared to 0.3B USA) is spending about 1/10th of what we spend, and we have the nerve to ask them for details in case they might start threatening us... /Bevin Quote

Hey, Oz, would you like to tell us how much YOU spend on the military? That's rather rude... How do you spend your money? Do you pay tithe? Do you give subsidies to various communitee programes? By what measure do we have the kahonies to ask for military spending from any goverment? It's like any one of us asking another person here what they spend thier income on....and how much they make... So, Um,...Shane...How much do you make and what do you spend your money on? What kind of loungere did you spend on your wife last year?.... [shane, I DONT expect you to answer this and it was a retorical question...and quite frankely...I really don't want to know!] Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. And see, I was right...you have commented on this new thread..... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Dr. Shane Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I hadn't commented on the thread, but I can. From what the article says, much of the increase in Chinese military spending is due to their growing economy and is simply pay increases for their soldiers. The US is simply asking them to be open about it, like we are. The comment in the first post in this thread about "black programs" is conspiracy talk. The world knows where the US R&D dollars are being spent. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
