I don't particularily care for Hillary. HOwever, God has had women in leadership positions. Galtaions 3:28 makes it clear that God sees people as one regardless of gender, or position or whatever dividing thing we put on them. It is also true that God has gifted people with gifts and some people should not be leaders just because they are men or just because they are women. I also happen to think that women with young children should be at home with their kids whenver at all possible and that is not demeaning..that is a priviledge to raise their children for God. But that doesn't mean that it is not a sin for a woman to be a leader however, it is true that we need good men leaders who can do what needs to be done. Personally I think there are better options than Hillary for president.

It is also true that men & women are designed for different functional roles in the church and the family. For instance:

There are 6-Biblical qualities the God asks men to demonstrate.

A commitment to love. (Ephesians 5:25,28, 33)

A commitment to nourish. (Ephesians 5:29)

A commitment to cherish. (Ephesians 5:29)

A commitment to honor. (1 Peter 3:7)

A commitment to cleansing. (Ephesians 5:26)

There are five Biblical qualities that God asks women to demonstrate.

A commitment to respond (Ephesians 5:25,28, 33)

Yes and there were prophets who were female, judges, and EGW talks about women and men training for the ministry. There was a thread here on CA that had those quotes listed. True that he has given men some special gifts and women some special gifts as well but they are not mutually exclusive. Most people say that in general women are more "nuturing" than most men and in general more into "conquering the enemy" (as demonstrated by the disporportionate amount of men versus women in the military) than most women would care to be. However, men can also be nurturing and women can be brave. There are in fact some areas of ministry which are in general more suited to men and some which are more suited to women. There are parts of the world where most of the evangelism, for instance, is done by capable women in those conferences. And these countries are places where women in general serve a much more subservient role than in the USA. However, the gifts God has given to them are recognized by both men and women, and even in that society God is using these women mightly to spread the gospel.

Those things are true. However,

Both women and men are called to love, cherish, honor, to be open, honest, to have a submissive spirit (not cherishing our rights)to be peacable, to respond in love to those around us and to God. These do not just apply to one gender. Both need to be meek. We need meek leaders. Not meek in the sense of door mats but meek in the sense of humble not proud. We both need to be made "servants" because Jesus came to serve not to be served. That doesn't mean we loose our roles of mothers and fathers, or husbands or wives. True men are to lead their families in the ways of the Lord, but so are women to guide their children. This does not demean men nor promote women. It means they are "equally yoked". They are working together for the good of their family.

When you read the introductory statement from Mrs. White, one can get the impression that she was implying that it was okay for men to vote or seek public office but not for women. How does that thought fly in the face of clear statements to the effect that one who has accepted the third angel's message cannot vote for any of the political parties or get involved in any of the political affairs of the governments of this world because it would be contrary to the Biblical principles of Christian citizenship and ambassadorship!

Any thoughts on that?

Hi Taylor. I, for one, am glad that there is a "disproportionate" amount of women serving in the military. I don't believe that any woman should be exposed to combat. "It just ain't right," as Grandpa would say. But we live in a mixed-up world and "it ain't gittin any better," as Grandma would say. Both of them were right.

I never said I was pro women in the military, in a fighting role. (I have actually never given it much thought.) I just said that in general Men are more into things like the military. Actually I think that is normal and fits the male role better than the female role. I have known women, however, who have been nurses in the armed forces and they have provided wonderful service to their comrads. There are probably other women in the military who do incredible services as well. I think it would be difficult to be a women in any type of military service and have young children at home as you would never know when you might be deported and the kids need their Mom. (They need their dads too but if one parent interacts more than another with the kids it is usually Mom.)
