Robert Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Mr Warmonger is at it again: "President Bush on Saturday said Iran's capture of 15 British sailors and marines was 'inexcusable' and called for Iran to 'give back the hostages' immediately and unconditionally.... It was the first time that Bush had commented publicly on the captured Britons. Washington has taken a low-key approach to avoid aggravating tensions over the incident and shaking international resolve to get Iran to give up its uranium enrichment program." Well, so much for avoiding tensions! Quote

Dr. Shane Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 It almost seems as if Iran is trying to provoke a war. But if that was the case I guess they would have taken Americans. CyberGuy Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Give Iran a bloody nose and they will think twice about doing this again. Maybe blow a few gunboats out of the water. Iran is a bully and there is a time and place to turn on the bully and give him a bloody nose to show them you will not sit and take that abuse. After our last encounter with Iran when we sank a few of their gunboats they were silent for over decade. Maybe it is time for another show of force. Quote Riverside CA

Dr. Shane Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Britain maintains that they were in Iraqi waters but even if they did drift into Iranian waters, what is the big deal? I have told the story here before about my history teacher in high school fishing in the Straight of Juan de Fuca and spotting a Soviet submarine, notifying the Coast Guard and being told they were already aware of it. Seems like this is part of an internal problem in Iran. I guess it is a wait-and-see. Those sailers and their families certainly need our prayers. There are few things worse in this world than being captured by radical Muslims. At least they are not burning people at the stake. I guess that would be worse than having one's head chopped off. jasd Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 >>(compliments of a near-unanimous congress)<< If memory serves..., Congress demanded Dubya 'bring it tah the hill' -- ya'know, all legit-like: the reason being that Congress felt it politic tah get it on record that they, being on the right side of the issue, desired to vote for the war -- what with the prevailing sentiments at the time... Moderators lazarus Posted April 4, 2007 Moderators Posted April 4, 2007 Gore and/or Kerry. Yikes! Kerry was right on Iraq wasn't he? Both of the above would not have led the US military to the defeat that its now facing. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Dr. Shane Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 That is completely speculative. None of us know what Kerry would have done although we have somewhat of an idea because of the 2004 presidential campaign. We have no idea what Al Gore Jr. would have done. The Iraq invasion was an excellent victory that will be studied in military schools for generations to come. The occupation has been grueling and a lot of mis-steps have been made. Would have Gore or Kerry made the same mistakes? Not likely. They would have made other ones. War is not like a construction project with a plan that can be carefully followed. It is more like a football game where there is an enemy causes one to make mistakes and constantly have to adjust the plan. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
