Resurrection/Easter Eggs?

Well, we colored a dozen eggs this evening with the kids. I left their easter baskets in the office so they will not find them. I'll have to go by tomorrow afternoon and bring them home so we can give them on Easter.

Well, we don't eat ham on Easter.

I like Shanes attitude on this subject, just because something has pagan backgrounds, there is no reason to let the devil continue to use it. Turn it around for Christ! Probably more SDA's know about the beginnings of a great number of our hollidays than do the rest of the world. I care not what group or denomination or whatever celebrate whatever on whatever day! What is there to be afraid of? My celebrations are just that, mine, I attached the significance that I choose to that occasion. MY choice, not someone else! Sheesh! Are going to let others control us and our actions?

Haveing said that, if someone has an uncomfortable feeling about whatever, than by all means stay away, don't do it or whatever YOU chose. Just don't choose to make it 'wrong' for me.

The ressurection of Christ should be a great celebration! Why should we care what time of the year it is celebrated. He arose on the first day of the week, the day we call sunday. Celebrate and enjoy!!

To each his own.Why let how some person perverted it hundreds of years ago ... impact the way you do it. AND it is HIGH time we started changing the way people view things towards a more Christian way in contrast to the worldly ways.

I feel kind of squicky when we get Easter eggs and bunnies at church. I know that the people who give it to them mean well, though, so I don't let it get to me too much. (bold italics supplied)

In keeping with the spirit of your convictions, I assure you that you would not ever use that word above in boldface italics again if you knew and understood it origin and context. Really...

That word allegedly had its origin in the early 1990's in pornography and the alt.sex Usenet. It originally referred to various sex acts from the common to the hideous. 'Nuff said. Do a Google search for it and be horrified...

If we got a problem with Easter, then we sure better have a problem with the above word!

Eggs = Fertility Symbol = Orgies

Rabbits = Fertility Symbol = Orgies

Spring Festivals = Fertility Rites = Blood Sacrifice

Why would you want to connect Easter to Jesus Resurrection?

I suppose that means that because I raised a rabbit when I was in 5th grade and received chocolate bunnies on Easter, I should have been in an orgy by now? :duno

I agree. Although we need to be vitally aware as Christians regarding these issues, so that we give proper glory to God, this all does fall under our duty to God, and not to man!

Oh, by the way, does your church have a steeple? The origin of that is from pagan sun worship, to catch the rays of the sun? :duno

Well, I just kind of made it up! Shows how naive I am! Now that I know, I won't ever say it again! I don't think I want to do a Google search.
