Companies that do polls like Zogby, Rassmussen, Gallup, Pew Research, Harris and Ipsos would be out of business if it were ever discovered they were manipulating the polls. That is why it is very rare. The latest poll show that only 16% of Americans support abortion on demand although a poll shortly before showed that number at 31%. Consistently polls are showing between 40-48% of Americans want the majority of abortions to be illegal. So it appears that at least half of those that consider themselves "pro-choice" favor restricting abortion. Last year a FOX News/Opinion Dynamics Poll showed that while the majority of Americans still consider themselves pro-choice, only 43% believe abortion should be legal for unwanted pregnancy while 8% were unsure. Last year a CBS News/New York Times Poll showed that only 38% believe abortion should be generally available while 39% favored more restrictions, 21% making it illegal and 2% unsure.
