Woody Posted January 3, 2008 Author Posted January 3, 2008 Perhaps I should start a new thread on Spiritual Abuse. Are there any takers? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Norman Byers, N.D. Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Quote: Norman ... you have made some good and valid comments here as far as I am concerned. Good Points. Thank you. I guess I would just wonder if fighting about an unrelated or personal personality issue ... might be an exception. I would be interested in what you think of that? I would also point out that friendly suggestions do not work. You can see that the thread I am referencing is still hijacked after 5 or 6 friendly reminders to the participants including the moderator. Clio Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Quote: But I do think that we could move the fighting to a fighting thread rather than allow it to smother a good topic to death. We can't do that because it will open the gate for anyone who doesn't like what is posted to be moved or deleted. What happens if one day a group of non believers join here for that purpose? They will change this club to the extent where it will no longer be appealing. You have to learn to deal with that which you don't like and don't and add fuel to the fire. I disagree. I've moderated forums for years and never have this kind of fighting and using the Word of Abba to beat people up or belittle them. Nor do we have thread hijackings... If a thread drifts, most people apologize and get back on topic or the thread dies a natural death. I don't find this atmosphere appealing. It's why I don't post much any more. there buster Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I have to thank you. Many Christians today don't understand why even our own children don't believe in 'absolute truth' any more. It's difficult to find examples of the sort of spiritual abuse that goes on in the name of the truth. Posts like yours make my job easier. Children want real people who stand for the truth at any cost and to their own hurt. Not the flakes that are floating around today. They stand for what ever feels goods and what they think the truth says and have no thus saith the Lord for thier positions. there buster Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Please forgive me my ignorance, Norman. No one explained to me the way things are around here before. Woody Posted January 3, 2008 Author Posted January 3, 2008 Quote: the flakes that are floating around today. Hey Ich ... Are you one of these "flakes" floating around? I haven't seen any flakes floating around here ... have you? Oh wait ... maybe there is a flake or two. ________________________________________________________________ We love you Norman. You provide so much fodder. What would CA be without you. Honestly Norman. I see in you someone who is sincerely dedicated but sorely mislead by spiritual ease. By this I mean that your dedication has caused you to believe the traditional line of thought. But some of these old traditional sayings do not take into account the entire gospel. They are "limited" truth. They have been said over and over so many times but people have not looked at them to see if they are in fact truth. Just saying something over and over does not make it truth. Much of this is just Spiritual Abuse if you look closely at it. But you do have to dig in. It is not always apparent. OK. Back to the fodder. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

David Koot Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Wow! This is quite a thread! Norman I know to be a very devout Christian who loves the Lord and takes the Christian life and witness seriously. Redwood, who started this thread, I know, too, to be very devout and has such a good heart, and wants peace. Then, on the other hand, there are the C/A bullies. Hang in there, Norman. One way to deal with a bully is to stand up to him. But I do appreciate Redwood's appeal--to avoid fighting. My take on why it happens? It doesn't happen with everyone who posts. There are people who are great to carry on a discussion with, even on quite different sides of an issue. I put the responsibility for fighting squarely at the door of a few people who are not satisfied with disagreeing, but frequently resort to ridicule--and seem to both justify and enjoy it. That tends ot incite. Personally, for quite some time I just 'took it.' But I concluded that the best way to deal with a bully is to call him on it and hold him accountable. And, doing so has often helped. If, in the future, people could just carry on an amicable exchange of ideas, in a Christlike spirit, without resorting to ridicule and the like, I think a huge amount of the fighting would disappear. Dave Quote
Woody Posted January 4, 2008 Author Posted January 4, 2008 Dave ... I believe as you ... call out the bully ... but don't do it by bullying. I mean don't stoop to their level. I find that quoting them does just fine. Calling some one a "floating flake" and asking people to "look in the mirror" ... and calling people "sorry and messed up" ... is not the way to promote discussion in a peaceful Christian way. I think you would have to agree .... Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
