Moderators Nan Posted February 8, 2008 Moderators Posted February 8, 2008 Are you just taking advantage of the fact that you live on the West Coast? Sabbath morning here and I should be in church but I am just waiting to help a young person into the world...so have a boogie for me, too! Quote
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted February 8, 2008 Administrators Posted February 8, 2008 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJX-AgWNxzs This is absolutely the best and most appropriate reaction to the opening post... And I can think of a number of other topics that could benefit from this little guy's mute commentary... Tom Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
David Koot Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 [What woman ever cooks dinner wearing a dress and high heels??!] Oh, my mother did, ALL THE TIME! She wore heels all day long!! In fact, over time the linoleum on the kitchen floor developed many little indentations because of it. Dress and heels, every day, all day. That's what we grew up with! But truly, times have changed now! For better or for worse? Quote

Moderators Gerr Posted February 9, 2008 Moderators Posted February 9, 2008 I knew there was something good, no, make that wonderful, about that era. Now I finally found it! I thought there was something wrong with the picture when my dog would come to greet me, tail wagging and happy but no wife! Gerry Quote

This is rather impolite as only the ladies will be able to follow up - but do go check out the thread I started several days ago in the Girls only forum!!! Quote
Dr. Shane Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 The big question is this: Should the expectations placed on the house wife be different than those placed on the wife working outside the home? Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Mom E Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 The big question is this: Should the expectations placed on the house wife be different than those placed on the wife working outside the home? How is this even in question? Duh! Of course! And of course, expectations should be different of different women also. Every woman (and man!) has a different personality and ability and anyone who expects their wife (or husband) to add up to being like ___'s wife (husband) is a quite mistaken in my book. I think spousal expectations set many spouses up for failure! It's not until we really get to know our spouse and understand what works and doesn't work really FOR THEM that we will get the results we want. OK, stepping down from my soapbox.... (not!) Quote

Guest Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Wow, I remember this article from a Ethnic studies course in school. We were discussing equality. It really stirred things up. Some points are good for both husband and wife, other points are just sexist. Like " you have no right to question him " and " a good wife knows her place". If my beautiful minded wife did not question me on some issiues, I would be in heap of trouble by now. Quote
