One might want to hesitate before ‘dressing’ the obelisk in terms or thrall of Egyptology. Egyptian obelisks symbolized beneficent Sun rays in a country that for millennia worshiped the Sun god Ra – and are, literally, idols.

There are more than twice as many obelisks in Rome as remain in Egypt; also, there are more obelisks in Rome than anywhere else.

Before erection in the piazza of St Peter’s square – its obelisk was exorcised! Hmm...

Though its been purported (ancient literature) that the soul of the deceased must pass by the obelisk – I tend to dismiss such beliefs as not held by the enlightened – and agree that one should not read too much into the

obelisk of Ellen White.

I am not sure that I would think that Free Masonry is more like paganism than christianity. My dad was never an Adventist, but he was a Mason and we had a Mason Bible in our home. My dad knew a lot about the Bible. My mother was Ruth in the Eastern Star before she became an adventist>>>> And another story was when my dad was helping me purchase a new car and when the salesman who was a Mason saw my dad's Mason ring on his finger,,, gave us a lot more money for our trade in.

I am not sure that you should be afraid of a free mason.... I have conducted funerals of Masons and let the Masons that are present do their thing at the cemetery after I am finished. In my prime I was often asked to conduct non-Adventist funerals.
