Child bride gets divorced after rape, beatings

Having sex with a girl that has not developed breasts and has not started menstruating is morally repugnant. I am not aware of any cultures that accept the practice of having sex with pre-puberty girls. This story indicated that this was not an accepted practice as the judge was surprised to discover the girl was married.

So are all Sunday-keepers going to burn in hell?

You know, I think people get too wrapped up hanging onto their culture. I mean, I think that they want to wrap their culture around them making themselves impervious to moral judgement.

I heartily agree.

I met an Adventist pastor once that said he wasn't a vegetarian because he is Hispanic. He was implying that vegetarianism is just something for the Algo-Adventist culture. I left that one alone. If he gratuated from the seminary and still thinks the vegetarianism is something cultural in the Adventist church I didn't think there was much I could say.

I think we should try to live in Adventist/Biblical culture. However I live in a cross-cultural marriage and understand the reality of different cultures. In a lot of ways my wife and I (both being Adventists) have more in common than I would with a non-Adventist American. Yet our Adventism only takes us so far. Even for those that don't want to wrap themselves in their culture, our culture is part of us and it can be hard to shed it like a winter coat.

Thankfully, GOD is the keeper of hell, HE gets to decide who goes in and who doesn't. But one thing I do know, your culture isn't going to keep you out of hell--no matter what it is.
