Amelia Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Astronaut Says Government Covering Up UFOs Apollo 14 Veteran Edgar Mitchell Claims Conspiracy July 25, 2008 Internet Broadcasting LAKE WORTH, Fla. -- An astronaut who once walked on the moon is causing a stir with claims the government is covering up the truth about aliens and UFOs. "It's incredible to think that we might be the only intelligent, living system in the universe. That's not credible anymore," Apollo 14 veteran Edgar Mitchell told WPBF-TV in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Friday. Mitchell's home in a suburb of West Palm Beach is a small shrine to the nine hours and 17 minutes he spent walking on the moon. Because of his experience, Mitchell's recent comments about unidentified flying objects and aliens are getting a lot of attention. Mitchell said that he believes the U.S. government has been covering-up the truth for more than 50 years. "Military pilots, airline pilots, mostly, from all over the world, for 50 years, have reported these things, but they've quit because they're told to shut up and not talk about it by military and intelligence people," Mitchell said. The 77-year-old said the deception began after the alleged alien landing in Roswell, N.M., in 1947. Ever since, Mitchell claims, the government has been keeping proof of alien life -- and alien visits -- under wraps. "Unfortunately, you the press show no interest whatsoever. The giggle factor has been too high. But the science behind it and the research behind it, among the people I know, is accepted. It's real," Mitchell told WPBF. The issue gained steam earlier this week when Mitchell told a British radio interviewer that he knows that the government knows about life in outer space. "I've been saying the same damn words for 10 years, almost verbatim, and all of a sudden, here I'm global news," he said. Mitchell first made global news on Feb. 9, 1971, when his lunar mission earned him a place in the record book for longest moonwalk -- an unbelievable feat that he said could be topped by an alien encounter. "It would be pretty darn exciting. I have been hoping for that type of experience since I got involved in this," he said. Mitchell said that he does not know why the government would be covering up the existence of intelligent life. He said he believes that John F. Kennedy was the last U.S. president to be briefed on UFOs. I'm not saying I agree with Edgar Mitchell's explanations of the other beings, only that I believe we are not alone in the universe. Seventh-day Adventists do believe what Ellen White has written about the end-times, which includes the belief that Satan will counterfeit Christ's Second Coming. If Satan was able to appear to Jesus at the Temptation, I have no doubt that God will give him permission to appear to the people on this earth for the purpose of deceiving them into believing that He has a plan to save the world from the calamities facing us. Those who are not aware of these things will believe him. It's possible the world is now being prepared for such deception. bygjymbo Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 There are two well-known references to "other worlds" in the Bible...though I can only remember one off the top of my head. The first chapter of Job, verses six and seven say: Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. These verses indicate that a meeting was held between the leaders of these "worlds" and that Satan came to represent Earth. I'll research the other and post it also... Quote
Robert Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 These verses indicate that a meeting was held between the leaders of these "worlds" and that Satan came to represent Earth. I don't know about "leaders" because it says "the sons of God." Perhaps the Adams of other worlds? You must remember, however, that this is the only fallen world. Meaning that this is the only world where iniquity governs everything. The other worlds have no iniquity...hence theirs in completely in harmony with God's agape love. That being the case why would they want to visit this ruined world? We have nothing to offer except sin and death. All this UFO stuff didn't start gaining attention until Hollywood started making sci-fi movies. I say Lucifer is behind this....The question is why? BTW, if there was war in heaven (I don't believe there was war as we understand it) why was Lucifer allowed access? Quote
Kountzer Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 I saw a UFO once. I was about 10 or 11 years old. We were driving East on the interstate hwy headed from Houston to Beaumont, Tx. It was a Sunday afternoon. This cloud to the South, to our right kept showing blinking lights. I was seated in the bask of a sedan so I had plenty of time to watch this thing. The more I watched it, the more the cloud took on the shape of a very large flying saucer. It had a grey metallic look, and it had a number of window portals. itg also had a lot of blinking lights. There were a number of other cars on the hwy that day. I am sure they saw it also. I asked my Step Dad who was driving if he saw it and what did he make of it. "I don't know Darryl", was his only reply. That let me know though that he saw it also. Eventually the saucer morphed back into a cloud. Before I saw all this I have this Uncle. He was and is very religious. Someone once gave him some bible study cards and from those studies he became an Adventist. Anyway, whenever I heard about para normal activities in the news or on television, stuff like big foot, etc, I would ask my uncle. He would always tell attribute it to satanic activity. No one else would have the answer, not the folks on tv, nor the teachers, but my uncle would. I believed him too. So when I saw this cloud thing happened I basically had an idea what it was all about. Some years later I heard a sda evangelist on satellite tv say the same thing my uncle used to tell me. He even made reference to a book that was written by a non adventist that came to the same conclusion. I found that book in a bookstore once and read some of what the author had to say. I didn't have the funds at the time to buy the book. I wish I had done so. I've forgotten the title of the book, and the name of the author. I am sure it can be found at a good bookstore, and in a half price bookstore. DB Quote I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs. Frederick Douglass

Kountzer Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 You could populate a mid sized city with the number of people who claim to have seen UFOs. I saw what I saw. I've tried to explain what I saw. You can accept it or leave. No big deal to me, one way or the other. I haven't seen anything else since then, praise the Lord. I accept what the SOP, and the bible has to say in regards to this issue. I believe there are beings on unfallen worlds. I don't believe they visit this world though. SDA Pastor and evangelist Henry Wright has a comical quip he uses in some of his sermons about beings from unfallen planets not wanting to visit here. He goes into a list of problems that plague this sin cursed earth. The way he expresses it is comical. DB Quote I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs. Moderators John317 Posted July 26, 2008 Moderators Posted July 26, 2008 ....BTW, if there was war in heaven (I don't believe there was war as we understand it) why was Lucifer allowed access? I believe the basic reason is that God is a God of freedom and is not out to win the great controversy through force or power. He wins it through allowing Lucifer to demonstrate his character and by permitting the results of sin and rebellion to work themselves out. By Satan being able to communicate with the unfallen angels, God allowed him full freedom, and he can never say that God hid things from the angels or kept him from trying to persuade the angels to side with him in the war. See the chapters in The Great Controversy and Patriarchs and Prophets on the beginning of sin in heaven. I believe the basic reason is that God is a God of freedom and is not out to win the great controversy through force or power. Okay...let's go with this. The Bible seems to say that there was war in heaven. I simply believe there was a war of ideas - i.e., God's agape vs self-love. Lucifer and Christ weren't boxing each other....Angels weren't in a fist fight, etc. Lucifer wasn't allowed to stay in heaven because God didn't want Lucifer to put his theory of self into practice. Why? God knew what it would do. So He allowed Lucifer to present his case to the Adams & Eves of other worlds. The only thing is Lucifer didn't play fair. He used deceit. The fruits of self-love came early on, huh? That's the thing about the love of self. It's all about what you lust of so he didn't give Eve a chance. Instead he lied to her...he deceived her. Quote
Kountzer Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 It's funny though. After seeing that cloud thing/ufo I have never discussed it with anyone up till now. My step dad and I never said a word about it again. When I went back to school I didn't bring it up with my peers. I guess I was afraid of being ridiculed. Whatever. Eph 2:2 sort of explains it. bygjymbo Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 In case anybody's keeping score, I'll finish my post from above... The second well-known verse pertaining to unfallen worlds is from Hebrews; chapter 1 and verse 2. It reads: Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Notice that it's plural! Quote
Moderators John317 Posted July 26, 2008 Moderators Posted July 26, 2008 You are right. The original word (plural) in Hebrews 1: 2 is aion and is often translated as an era; an age; a period of time of significant length; eternity; the world; the material universe. Strongs # 165. Here most scholars are agreed that it means the material universe, or the worlds. Amelia Posted July 26, 2008 Author Posted July 26, 2008 Since God already has the play book and since Lucifer has his own part to play in it; God would have to allow Lucifer access to the set in order to act out his part. Servant Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 I have a colleague; a credible individual, who told several of us last week he had seen a UFO the week before, while riding his bicycle to work. His experience was personally confirmed when a stranger, standing on the bank of a canal, fishing, saw it too. Quote
bygjymbo Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 I agree wholeheartedly with you Amelia. My testimoney, to make a long story short, involves witches and witchcraft. I've seen and experienced many psranormal events. It would have been really easy to accept the standard explainations, except I KNEW what I was seeing. All were manifestations of demonic activity. While I've never actually seen a UFO, it's easy to put two and two together... Quote

Amelia Posted July 27, 2008 Author Posted July 27, 2008 Gobbledygook eh? Sorry, things often sound good in my head but most often don't come out the same way. I don't have a learned tongue. God has to allow Lucifer to do his part on earth and with man in order for Jesus to return as stated in Revelations. Mans outcome has already been scripted and finalised. We will all die saved or unsaved. Earth will come to an end. God and Jesus will triumph and Lucifer will lose everything he has fought for. Robert was wrong when he said is wasn't an actual war. Moderators Bravus Posted July 27, 2008 Moderators Posted July 27, 2008 Lots of speculation here, based on some pretty scant biblical grounds. Don't get me wrong, speculation is fun - I read lots of speculative fiction. But we should be very careful about speaking as though our personal speculations are Holy Writ. Do you consider epilepsy to be a disease with a physical cause? I do - but how many epiliptics would have been considered demoniacs in human history, on the basis of lack of understanding? Similarly, the vast majority of UFO sightings are explained by weather ballons, planes seen from an odd angle, atmospheric effects such as 'sun dogs' and so on. of the small minority that are harder to explain, some are hoaxes, and others are just that - harder to explain. I personally doubt that the sightings are from alien civilisations: not because I don't think there are any out there, but because the interstellar distances are just too massive to be conquered. Slower than the speed of light (which, as far as we know, is all that's possible) it would take hundreds of thousands of years to travel from the nearest Earth-like planet we know about. And, if you have the technology for an interstellar drive, you would certainly have good stealth technology - and better things to do than anal-probe humans. I also doubt the automatic assumption that they're satanic, though - so much else has proved to be natural when investigated properly that was initially ascribed to Satan. If aliens did arrive and start teaching us to follow them in some creed or other, maybe... but as I've said above, I'd be extremely incredulous if aliens turn up at all. Quote Truth is important

Moderators John317 Posted July 27, 2008 Moderators Posted July 27, 2008 ... the interstellar distances are just too massive to be conquered. Slower than the speed of light (which, as far as we know, is all that's possible) it would take hundreds of thousands of years to travel from the nearest Earth-like planet we know about... This calls for a question I am very interested in. In Daniel 9: 20-23, it appears that about the time Daniel began to pray, the angel Gabriel was ordered by God to go to Daniel and teach him about the vision that Daniel had been praying about. If that is true-- and given the fact that the prayer only lasted maybe about 15 minutes,--it means that the angel would have needed to travel many millions of miles in a very short period of time. Let us suppose that heaven-- as I believe it is--is somewhere on a planet in the middle of the constellation Orion. That certainly means Gabriel would have had to travel much faster than the speed of light, would it not? If he had traveled the speed of sound, how long is it likely to have taken Gabriel to travel that distance? (I realize the angel Gabriel may have received God's order to travel to Daniel while the angel was somewhere else either on earth or at some other location nearer our planet.) Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Mans outcome has already been scripted and finalised. We will all die saved or unsaved. Earth will come to an end. God and Jesus will triumph and Lucifer will lose everything he has fought for. Yes, I think you're right here. The outcome of who wins and what happens to the wicked and the righteous-- these things are definitely not in doubt. Satan is really playing into God's hand because no matter what Satan does, God is able to bring ultimate victory out of it, even out of what looks like sure defeat, as, for instance, in the death of Christ. When that happened, Satan thought for sure he had won, and he apparently did not realize that by killing Jesus Christ, he had actually guaranteed his own eventual, eternal destruction. In a class I once took from Niels-Erik Andreasen, he suggested that the way God has dealt with Satan during the war may be compared to a strong boxer who gets in the ring with a small man and simply allows his opponent to exhaust himself over 12 full rounds by throwing every punch he can manage to hit him with. In this way, God gives Satan full powers within the ring altho' he still has to abide by certain rules, yet so does God. Yes, God also chooses to abide by certain "rules of play" (which may be more accurately described as rules of warfare). God is not forced to, of course, but He has chosen to do so for the sake of freedom and justice, and in order to bring the issues at stake to a satisfactory conclusion in favor of the re-establishment of peace and freedom throughout His universe. Quote: Robert was wrong when he said is wasn't an actual war. It is very much is a war. Every soul saved by the love of Jesus is a battle won. Every soul lost forever to modern Sodom and Gomorrah evils is a battle lost. You can't fight a war with only one side fighting. Lucifer has to be in or on earth to direct his soldiers. I think if we take into consideration everything that the Bible says about the conflict between Lucifer and Christ, we have to assume that the war involves much more than a mere exchange of ideas. It seems as if it is a very personal war. For instance, look at Daniel 7: 13 and compare Ellen White's comment on it in Prophets and Kings 571, 572. It is evident that some angels are stronger than others and are better able in some way to do battle for God against the fallen angels. The fundamental issue in the great controversy between Christ and Satan is the vindication of God's character before the onlooking universe. He does not use force. He doesn't force people like one manipulates a puppet. God allows freedom, including freedom to Satan, although the freedom is within limits. For instance, in the case of Job, God set limits so that Job's life would be spared. It is obvious when we look at what Satan has done to His creator, Jesus Christ, that if He could, Satan would take the life even of God Himself. I think these things show that the battle is more than merely about ideas but involves organized armies and some sort of intense spiritual struggle-- the exact nature of which we cannot know at this time. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
