Drilling today is not like it was back in the 70s and 80s. The Swedish and people of Norway drill off their shores and have never had any terrible problems that I know of.

Where are you opposed to drilling? In Alaska?

I am opposed to the pollution that is put out by the refineries and the vehicles. There are places in Texas where I literally get sick driving through the area because the air is so polluted. I'm sure the water supply in those areas is not any better. This should be a crime against humanity.

I also have questions on the emissions' role in global warming. When most scientists in the world believe our oil and coal use are contributing to global warming, why would we consider increasing production? It just sounds like insanity to me.

There are also a lot of questions about what drilling does to the environment and the wildlife, particularly with offshore drilling.

I see drilling as a really atrocious affront to God's creation. Why Christians would be in favor of it is something I can't comprehend.

The facts are that we have two teams running for President and VP that are both highly qualified. We are getting into the final run and the campaigns have turned negative. When one campaign smears the other, that is what is known as a swiftboat attack. McCain's commercial about Obama supporting sex education for kindergarten children is an example of a swiftboat smear. Both sides are doing it.

That's not really quite true, Shane...What we have here are people who are trying to convince others that the ramifications of thier vote have very far reaching consequences...Some of us are trying to bring out that there is an intelligent vote that is in line with our religious tenets. Others here are pushing for different tentets and emphasizing non-traditional SDA values...

And let me be abit more candid....While the church does support traditional values, the prophecy of the church has always been that Sabbath would be compromised by our political system.

Currently, that system is linked to the Republican party. You and I both know that the Church of Christ, while preaching about Christ, does NOT have a prophetic view and guidlines to the end of days. Thus, it does not know what it is doing, nor preaching regarding the end of the world. Yet we have a potintial VP who doesn't know what she is doing either when it comes to last day events, nor what the role of the VP is. She is admitedly a "soccer mom" who preaches that Alaska is a haven for christians during those last days. She doesn't believe in being a good steward of the enviroment.

And by the way, please know the TRUE meaning of 'swiftboating'....You are begining to sound like an uninformed republican...Oops...my bad...you are a republican registered as a democrat..

Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.

The SDA church does not teach that Republicans will bring in end-time events. The SDA church does not instruct its members to vote either Democrat or Republican. We do not know how the Sunday laws will come about. They could come about by a court order from the Supreme Court and not from either party. More likely, they will be bipartisan.

I have seen an interview of Palin's ex-pastor that teaches Alaska has some role in end-time events. Palin left that church shortly after he became pastor. If we want to avoid voting for the ticket whose VP's religion does not have a correct understanding of end-time events, we may want to look long and hard at Joe Biden's church - the Roman Catholic Church. Last I checked it has a different understanding of Bible prophecy than the Adventist church has.

I guess a soccer mom isn't too different from a hockey mom.

Do you know what the denominational affiliation is of GW and McCain?

How's that quote go again...."when the hand of Protestantism reaches across the gulf to grasp the hand of Catholicism..."

Palin's a Protestant, isn't she....
