fccool Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 You see, I see Daily Show as the "police of the police" if you will. It's quite unfortunate that NO media today has the gust to cover the certain things that both Stewart and Colbert cover. It's more than just a "joke". As someone says, in every joke is a part of the joke. We've had plenty of humorists in Soviet Russia, and they had a great role to play educating people... because they are one of the few that could get away with truth concealed in a joke. Imagine if someone got on the news today with Bill O'reily and said. We've sold Saddam, Saudis WMDs, and we've sponsored Bin Ladden with American taxpayer money. What do you think would happen if someone would say this as a guest on a conservative pundit show? Even on things like Ayers and Acorn, and Obama being inexperienced community organizer who did not do anything... somebody has to keep media in check. That's why I believe young people turning to Stewart. Here's for example Bill Crystal on the show. He knows that calling Obama a socialist is a political gimmick... he admits that on the show. That's what I don't understand about people take a stand for McCain because he is a "bastion of morality", and yet he has no problems with political gimmicks which are pretty much lying... as long as it gets him in the house. He goes on Larry King, and when cornered he admits that Obama is not a socialist... yet then he gets out and says completely opposite to his supporters. Don't you see a problem with this? And the funny thing is that the media that supposed to inform viewers, don't dispute anything. They just regurgitate the story, and it looks like they have no problem with it. So, in that case I see Stewart to be more of a journalist than media today... sure some of things are puns, but much of it has a method to its madness. http://www.indecision2008.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=189772 Quote
carolaa Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 That's a great link. It's refreshing to see a host who is so welcoming to people who disagree with him. Quote
