olger Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Well, we're in agreement: blow up yer TV. Happy to oblige, Sir. We threw ours out 25-years ago. The boys grew up without one and became the best readers in their class. Plus we insulated our home from thousands of murders, adulteries, liars etc... in the process. In short.. we can't afford a TV. Go do the right thing, og Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

Liz Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 More evidence to show TV is evil. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWZYiADYtHE I didn't know just how bad Disney was, but now I'm really scared for kids everywhere. I watch my Disney in regular speed, not in slow motion or backwards, and the Michael Eisner thing was an outright lie--I searched everywhere, no credible source for that at all. I hope this was TIC. Quote For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Mat. 16:26Please, support the JDRF and help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Amelia Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 If TV is evil, then your computer is evil too. You access all that you say is evil via your computer. Kill the TV? Kill your computer! BTW, people who claim to see evil or sexual things in movies or pictures, etc are usually looking for that specific thing. And to be actively looking for that makes me think they have that on their mind ALOT! http://www.snopes.com/disney/films/lionking.asp http://www.snopes.com/disney/films/mermaid.asp http://www.snopes.com/disney/films/aladdin.asp As anyone should do when someone says this or that is spreading filth, check it out the rumor for yourself. Dr. Shane Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 If all a person watches on TV is 3ABN, Hope or LLBN I don't think they are going to find anything objectionable. Of course if they neglect other areas of their life due to TV that would be a problem but the same is true about Bible study. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Moderators Bravus Posted December 3, 2008 Moderators Posted December 3, 2008 What were we saying here just a day or so ago about using lies, distortions or sensationalism to make what are basically good points? Quote Truth is important
GreatLakesGramma Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Since my father in law died, we now have his Adventist satellite, with Hope Channel, 3ABN, and LLBN. But we still don't watch it. We're so used to not watching, we never think to turn it on. We only use once in a while it to watch videos. There are plenty of good ones available. And I couldn't stand to work out without a video. So I disagree with anyone who says that TV is all bad, or that we should get rid of TVs. Some people should. My husband had a serious problem with addiction, which is why we got rid of the TV years and years ago. He was the one who wanted to get one again, just for Christian, educational, and nature vidoes. But he never dared watch TV with me in the house, so there's never been a problem, except on the extremely rare occasions when he was here & I was not. He knew better than to turn it on while I was around. Now it wouldn't matter, as he would use the satellite. But he's into reading his Bible these days, and has no interest in it at all any more. Our adult son watches TV, but never on the TV. He watches on his computer, at Hulu. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. Dr. Shane Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Hope, 3ABN, LLBN and SafeTV really make me feel like part of the world church. Similar to this forum. My Adventist experience is no longer limited to my local church and an annual camp meeting. The internet and satellite TV have really enriched my Adventist experience more than anything else. Dr. Shane Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 If you get the Glorystar set up you can scan in some new channels. Al Jazeera English is a pretty good channel for world and US news and it is available through the Glorystar setup. Glorystar is the same set up that provides the Adventist channels. The receiver comes pre-programed so in order to get the news channels one has to do a blind scan. But it is all free - no monthly fees. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
