I don't know a more caring, thoughtful, unselfish people. Of course I realize there are many Catholics who aren't like that, but I know from personal experience that God has a lot of wonderful people in the Catholic Church. Moderators John317 Posted December 2, 2008 Moderators Posted December 2, 2008 This is what evidently caused David Pendelton, the Adventist pastor and State Representative of Hawaii, who joined the Catholic Church about a year ago, to be confused. For some reason he thought all Catholics were bad people, and then when he found out this wasn't true, it evidently made him doubt a lot of other things he'd been told. But of course the truth is that Ellen White had written over a hundred years ago that God has millions of good, honest people in the Catholic Church. Could it be that God is waiting for our church to get ready to receive them? Not having a go at any of the participants, but that tends to be what it boils down to in terms of diagnosing what is wrong with the church that is keeping Jesus away... people are not enough like me. Moderators John317 Posted December 2, 2008 Moderators Posted December 2, 2008 My own view is that Jesus is waiting to see more people in the church like Himself-- that is, like God in their love for each other and for those outside the church. He's waiting for a church to be so on fire for Him and for the truth that if He were to allow millions of Catholics and others to come into the church, they would be warmed by the coals instead of chilled by the coldness. I perceive that the underlying tone of this thread is that it is significant that known conservatives, some of whom are sda, are joining a church with so called 'standards', whatever that is supposed to mean. I personally don't see where the 'standards' of the RCC are any better than the ones I encounter at the church are interact with on a regular basis. I don't see how a denomination that systematically condones gambling on church grounds, or different types of secular music concerts (zydeco) or church bazaars is exemplary of setting high standards. Having said that, I don't know all the members of the RCC. Most of the ones I have met are nice people, for the most part. We know that the desire for control that defines Rome has not changed, just put on a new face. The world has gotten so liberal that the loudest voice raised against the sins of abortion, divorce etc.... is the Roman voice. This ought not to be. Ellen White well said that the sins of the world's impenitence lies at the door of the church. Our church. Summary: All this means that we have a unique opportunity to stand tall for truth. That will draw people to us, who are lost in our world of confusion. Let us go forward in God's love & confidence. og Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
