Administrators Gail Posted January 30, 2009 Administrators Posted January 30, 2009 What were you teased about when you were younger? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted January 30, 2009 Members Posted January 30, 2009 I got teased about my clothes when I was a kid. They were patched and worn, but they were all I had. Some of the other kids were awfully mean. But I got the best grades.. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

Moderators Gerr Posted January 30, 2009 Moderators Posted January 30, 2009 For scars left on my face when I was gored by a water buffalo and when I had a bicycle accident. Quote
Woody Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Can you give me the definition of a water buffalo. I know of some student that got in deep trouble for using that term. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators Gerr Posted January 31, 2009 Moderators Posted January 31, 2009 google for "picture of a water buffalo" and you'll see a nice picture of one. I tried to copy and paste the picture but it wouldn't do it. Quote
Woody Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Oh. Okay. Was that what you were referring to? All I know is that you don't every want to call someone that. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Dottie Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I was teased for being fat--elephant, pig, "fatty, fatty, two-by-four..." I wore braids until I was eleven, need I say more? Also, in academy, I had to miss a week of school because of the measles. That was the only grade period that I had all A's. So they called me "measle-brain." Quote
Moderators Gerr Posted January 31, 2009 Moderators Posted January 31, 2009 THAT's the beast I was referring to. Two big horns. Usually very gentle animal, but one of those horns got me right right infront of my left ear! I am truly not aware of any other meaning to "water buffalo." Mind enriching my vocabulary? Quote
Woody Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I am not aware of the meaning. But, a few years back ... a white college student called a black girl a 'water buffalo'. He got kicked out of the college. The liberals of course ... supported the action. But the conservatives like Rush Limbaugh got all riled up about it. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Members phkrause Posted January 31, 2009 Members Posted January 31, 2009 Good one Redwood. Across the road from us is a big field, they have a water buffalo. He's probably just a few years old. When I walked my dog, before I had to put him to sleep, we'd go past the animal and it would come running towards us and want to play. My dog would go nuts wanting to get in the field with him. It was pretty funny. Now when I go walking he still comes over to check on me. He's pretty friendly. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
GreatLakesGramma Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I was teased about lots of different things in elementary school - anything someone (mostly boys) could think of to attack me on. Sometimes they even made up things. Kids can be pretty vicious, and I was almost at the bottom of the totem pole in my grade in school. And I am ashamed to have to admit that when the wolf pack surrounded the one of the two boys even lower on the social scale than me, I joined in. You would think I would have sympathized and kept out of it, but at that age, kids will do anything to be part of the group. It's one of the reasons I homeschooled my kids. I didn't want them to be victims or learn to be abusers. Unfortunately, they got to "enjoy" the experience anyway, from the kids at church. Administrators Gail Posted February 1, 2009 Author Administrators Posted February 1, 2009 This has been kind of a neat question, as I have learned something about some members here! Amelia Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I was teased all the way through high school. I never really fit in anywhere so there was apparantly lots to tease about. Liz Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I don't know how you quote multiple people. So for those that "wonder" about me. In my family we were raised that if they didn't love us they wouldn't tease us. Teasing=love. So if someone started teasing me, I thought "hey they must like me" and I would tease them about something and I thought we were good friends. Yes, ignorance is bliss. There is such a thing as mean teasing, when the other person doesn't find it funny and you know right quick when you have crossed that line. I will not knowingly engage in this type of teasing. So if I tease ya'll it's 'cause I likes ya'll, and vice versa. Quote For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Woody Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Well ... it is always nicer to be the teaser rather than the teasee. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Gail Posted February 1, 2009 Author Administrators Posted February 1, 2009 Well ... it is always nicer to be the teaser rather than the teasee. And why is that? Hmm... Liz I have a friend, actually 2, who live in such families. They are quick-witted and I believe for the most part, good-natured. Although personally I don't like teasing, I find that these friends (and their families) have quite an easy sense of humour. They tend to like people and have a positive outlook on life. Is that okay, if you are used to it? I think a lot must depend on the relationship, as you explained. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
