puddles Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I have been teased most of my life. If not for being vertically challenged then it's because my horizontal has been broadened over the years. And when I was in elementary school, I came down with the chicken pox and wouldn't ya know it...the only scar I got was on the end of my nose! Oh and I have been blessed with an extra toe on my right foot...can you imagine all the fun kids had with me?!??! I HAD to develop a hide like a rhino or be cut to the bone and die on the spot. I learned to tease "nice" and dislike mean-spirited teasing. Just think of me as a little round puddle with a big mouth! Quote
Woody Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 For many years of my life ... I used to be teased for being slim. It just ain't 'manly' folks. I wanted to be fat. I really did. I dreamed of being fat. But what I didn't understand is how people can get away with making fun of you being so slim or 'skinny' ... but if I returned the favor and commented on them being so fat ... it didn't go over so well. But I saw it as the same. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Stan Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I think it is difficult to find someone who was never teased (in a mean way) Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com
Taylor Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 For many years of my life ... You too? Oh man I was teased about being so skinny. They'd call me bag of bones (I grew nearly 6 inches that year....what else was I supposed to be other than skinny? lol), skeleton etc. They'd ask me how I got wet in the shower...did I have to lie down since I would obviously fit between the streams of water. I also often didn't have the money to "be in style" so was teased some about that (though my clothes were just fine...just not the latest craze at the moment)...etc etc. I actually hated the teasing and would at times cry at home, though never at school. (But there was some consilation in the mess as I got A's.) I truely did try to be nice to them in return but some I just had to avoid as they were mean no matter what and it was too painful to try to be friends with them. I remember one boy in my class who often didn't have long enough jeans, who was zit covered, quiet, thicker glasses, and sometimes greasy haired. The kids teased him mercilessly about his looks and about being stupid, and though I didn't join in I didn't stick up for him, sad to say! However, one day I had had enough. After handing out graded spelling tests that the teacher had me hand back, I saw he had 100 %, not only that he had 95-100 on all previous tests (our tests were in a booklet). I just exploded infront of the whole class. I told them that it was obvious that he was smart, that it hurt to be teased and that I was sick of it. I also said I was ashamed I hadn't stuck up for him previously whether he was an A student or not..that all people have feelings and that from then on if they were going to tease him they would have to get through me. I was furious, so much so that I cried, which embarassed me to no end. But the classroom went deathly quiet. That day at recess I couldn't find him..so I went looking and found him behind a large tree crying. He said "No one has ever done for me what you just did, but you had better stop...it's isn't worth it...if you think it was bad before..they will eat you for lunch...I know you are my friend, now, but you'd be wise to not hang around me or stick up for me." I told him, "Nothing doing! I don't care WHAT they say I will never let them do that to you or anyone else ever again without me saying something!" Though the teasing continued, it was a bit more muted after that, and somehow it never hurt me as much after that. Ever since then, I have always felt for the "under-dog" because I know how much it can hurt to be in that position. Quote
Administrators Gail Posted February 5, 2009 Author Administrators Posted February 5, 2009 Bravo for you, Taylor! I came to realise that school is only a subculture and not the real world anyway. The real world is much kinder. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Morepork Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I started public school at 5 years of age, but the boys didn't like the mark on my face, and one day I was chased into the girls toilets with a small axe, absolutely terrified. I don't remember coming out...............but the headmaster advised my parents to keep me home another year. That year was a real blessing to me, as my father was a wood cutter and Mum would take me and my baby brother and help Dad cut wood all day. I learned to love the bush and commune with God which has stayed with me to this day. When I returned a year later, I only stayed a few months and then went to church school till it closed down. The only other time I was teased by a girl twice as big as me while waiting in line to go into class (back at public school), I, the extremely shy one up and slapped her face. I don't know who got the biggest shock, her or me, but it never happened again! For my 2 boys at church school, life was hell 6 days a week, and on the 7th, there was no rest as the little darling attended the same church. At intermediate level, after years of trying to stick it out, I removed them to the public system where they thrived and finally enjoyed school. Sadly, that teaser ended up in jail on charges of armed robbery, damaged in the 1st 18 months of life. His adopted (church) parents just couldn't get a handle on it or acknowledge the fact that there were serious problems, and many children suffered his extreme behaviour. I had to completely reboot to make my computer work correctly. Is this a virus or something? The above, translated, was supposed to say, "As Stan said, I can't think of anyone who has gone through life without being teased." I was teased for being tall, skinny, having big feet, and wearing glasses. None of that bothered me. I guess I felt that everyone liked me and none of us were perfect, so it wasn't a big deal. Robert Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 What were you teased about when you were younger? Yes, but I took care of the chubby bully: Lucky for him I wore gloves. Quote

Glad they are safe now and thriving! Teasing like that can be very very miserable! Quote
