Neil D Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Very sad....very sad.... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Woody Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Very sad ... I agree. It is sad that people continue to pursue a good Christian man who is out of office. Bush had much honor. He does not deserve this. I am changing the title to Obamaville. Obama is the Prez. And he is doing nothing about our problems. This is now in HIS lap. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Neil D Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I am sorry, but people , other people in those tent towns, they named it "bushville"....Nobody here did... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
there buster Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 You forget, Redwood. Being inflammatory is OK if you are on the left. Disagreeing with the left is also inflammatory. Quote “the slovenliness of our language makes it easier to have foolish thoughts.” George Orwell
Neil D Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Excuse me, but who, up to this point has been inflammatory in this thread??? Which one of the left has been inflammatory? Bravus brought this report to our attention....I don't believe that I was inflammatory in that all I did was reference the report... Who was inflamatory? Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
there buster Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Q.E.D. Quote “the slovenliness of our language makes it easier to have foolish thoughts.” George Orwell
Neil D Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 'Cuse me....speak english...I'm just a simple man who don't know nuffin' , remember? Q.E.D. 1760, abbrev. of L. quod erat demonstrandum "which was to be demonstrated." So, let me get this straight...you are saying that something that never happened demonstrats the inflammatory nature of the left? It seems to me, that of the people who have posted here, you and Redwood are the most inflammed individuals here so far.....Just an observation you understand... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
carolaa Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 These tent cities started happening when Bush was in office. I have to agree the similarity to Hoovervilles is appropriate. I really don't understand why so many people are so concerned about protecting the wealthy. Most of the people defending them will never have anywhere close to that kind of wealth. And most of the wealthy would kick them to the curb in a heartbeat (which I guess they pretty much are doing already). Quote
there buster Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 If the title of one thread can be inflammatory, so can another. If we 'referenced' something by Ann Coulter, that would offend the left. Well, Dail Kos is at least as inflammatory. But of course, he can't be, since he's on the left. Q.E.D. Quote “the slovenliness of our language makes it easier to have foolish thoughts.” George Orwell
there buster Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Quote: I really don't understand why so many people are so concerned about protecting the wealthy. You mean people like Obama, Chris Dodd, Charley Rangle, and Barney Frank? Quote “the slovenliness of our language makes it easier to have foolish thoughts.” George Orwell
carolaa Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Actually, no, I meant regular people who will most likely never have that kind of money. Quote
there buster Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 And I was speaking of the wealthy Mr's. Obama, Chris Dodd, Charley Rangle, and Barney Frank. Why defend them? Quote “the slovenliness of our language makes it easier to have foolish thoughts.” George Orwell

Well, Dail Kos is at least as inflammatory. But of course, he can't be, since he's on the left. Q.E.D. And we are not talking about other inflammatory threads. We are talking about this ONE which YOU referenced was inflammatory...The title of this thread came from the article/clip itself. My point is that this thread was not inflamatory until YOU and Redwood reference it to be inflammatory. When asked specifically, YOU refered to the "Left" as being offended...To which I am asking where did the left become inflammed? My conclusion is that the left didn't become inflammed...YOU did... Therefore, you have demonstrated what the left has said all along....Those of the ubber right don't want to be reconciled...they want to be left in thier hate fill attitude. Thank you, Mr. I for demonstrating that...you did a very good job of that... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Moderators Bravus Posted March 10, 2009 Author Moderators Posted March 10, 2009 Well, nice work, ichabod, on making the discussion be all about civility instead of about the substantive points raised in the article linked. Distraction and misdirection at its best. Quote Truth is important
carolaa Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 And I was speaking of the wealthy Mr's. Obama, Chris Dodd, Charley Rangle, and Barney Frank. Why defend them? What I'm talking about is how some people are to quick to protect the wealth of the wealthy. I don't understand that. Quote
there buster Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Quote: My point is that this thread was not inflamatory until YOU and Redwood reference it to be inflammatory. I will remember that. Threads are not inflammatory until someone objects to them being inflammatory. So the next time someone starts a thread with the title "Obama the Antichrist," it won't be inflammatory until someone says it is. Moderators Bravus Posted March 10, 2009 Author Moderators Posted March 10, 2009 Further misdirection. Let me help: 1. Poverty is rising rapidly in America. 2. Tax cuts were not the answer in the 20s and 30s and they're not the answer now. Quote Truth is important

jasd Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 >>What I'm talking about is how some people are to quick to protect the wealth of the wealthy. I don't understand that.<< ...never saw a poor person provide a meaningful job for another. Seems, we need the affluent, the wealthy, to risk their monie$ - that there might be - jobs for the needy. Jobs, salary, good. Thank-you, filthy rich folks, for the jobs that sustained me through the years I worked. (mebbe, if all, such as those tax cheats who have been exposed throughout this transition period on nat'l television, paid their taxes - we'd not have to pester the productive wealthy) Quote
jasd Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 >>bwahahahahahahahahahahaha<< Indeed! Indeed! Seems, I recall - that the darling of the Lefters, that is, FDR - took some 12 years and a World War before our economy began tracking again... a generation before stocks regained their losses. In the meantime - misery and depression. Déjà vu, all over again? Even the Democratic-controlled Congress, afterwards, could not stomach the preceding - and took steps to ensure that no future POTUS would ever again have three terms by which to scru America - ever again. Little did they know that so far, it's only taken seven weeks for this POTUS to scru America. Daily Kos, indeed! Quote
there buster Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Quote: 1. Poverty is rising rapidly in America. Yes. Poverty is rising, as follows: Quote: The following are facts about persons defined as "poor" by the Census Bureau, taken from various government reports: * Forty-six percent of all poor households actually own their own homes. The average home owned by persons classified as poor by the Census Bureau is a three-bedroom house with one-and-a-half baths, a garage, and a porch or patio. * Seventy-six percent of poor households have air conditioning. By contrast, 30 years ago, only 36 percent of the entire U.S. population enjoyed air conditioning. * Only 6 percent of poor households are overcrowded. More than two-thirds have more than two rooms per person. * The average poor American has more living space than the average individual living in Paris, London, Vienna, Athens, and other cities throughout Europe. (These comparisons are to the average citizens in foreign countries, not to those classified as poor.) * Nearly three-quarters of poor households own a car; 30 percent own two or more cars. * Ninety-seven percent of poor households have a color television; over half own two or more color televisions. * Seventy-eight percent have a VCR or DVD player; 62 percent have cable or satellite TV reception. * Seventy-three percent own microwave ovens, more than half have a stereo, and a third have an automatic dishwasher. As a group, America's poor are far from being chronically undernourished. The average consumption of protein, vitamins, and minerals is virtually the same for poor and middle-class children and, in most cases, is well above recommended norms. Poor children actually consume more meat than do higher-income children and have average protein intakes 100 percent above recommended levels. Most poor children today are, in fact, supernourished and grow up to be, on average, one inch taller and 10 pounds heavier that the GIs who stormed the beaches of Normandy in World War II.. . . Overall, the typical American defined as poor by the government has a car, air conditioning, a refrigerator, a stove, a clothes washer and dryer, and a microwave. He has two color televisions, cable or satellite TV reception, a VCR or DVD player, and a stereo. He is able to obtain medical care. His home is in good repair and is not overcrowded. By his own report, his family is not hungry and he had sufficient funds in the past year to meet his family's essential needs.
