Members phkrause Posted March 26, 2009 Members Posted March 26, 2009 Well that sucks, my daughters HD crashed a few months ago. had to reinstall everything. She had NUs but allowed it to expire. If she had kept that up and had made a copy of the HD she could have saved herself the agony of having to reinstall everything. They have this program called "clone", I believe that is the correct name. GreatLakesGramma Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 I back up every day, because ever since I got this laptop (used) about every 2 months I get a disk read error when I try to start it. The only thing to do is reinstall everything. I'm getting to be a real pro at installing Windows. Unfortunately, lately it has not given me a whole 2 months between crashes anymore. Last time it was 5 weeks, this time 5 1/2. I tried to Ghost it (Norton) last time I installed everything, but it wouldn't work. My son now has a clone program that is working for him (he's an IT tech), and told me that he will do it for me once I get everything the way I want it. It's all installed now, but I have to tweak my settings. I'm hoping I'll be able to get another motherboard before it crashes again though. That will take care of it. It's the hard drive controller causing all the trouble. Anyway, for the moment, at least I'm winning at this thread. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
