nuff sed Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 All you anti-rat people should move to Kuching, in Sarawak, Malaysia...it is the City of Cats....... I do not remember seeing any rats there. Evidently you never got by my house in Kuching down the road from Sunny Hill School on Batu Kawa Road. The rats used to come into the house behind the sink in the kitchen. We had a 22 cal. air pistol in the drawer of the kitchen table. Often when my wife was studying at the table and spotted a rat sticking his head around the corner...BANG! ( of course it might have been one of the rats that I paid the local kids to bring me to feed my snakes...and it got loose!)...<GG> Quote
GreatLakesGramma Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Well ... you have to realize that I was asleep and did not know what was on my face. I was just getting rid of it and didn't intend to 'toss' it over to my wife. So, what happened after that? Obviously, since you are posting here, she didn't kill you. Whatever she did, I'll bet you were wide awake in a hurry. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. Liz Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 We don't have rats, but occasionally get mice; however, our cat is no help--she is scared of them too. CAD Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 I have a great mouser cat. There wouldn't be one left in the house. You are more than welcome to borrow him but I have a feeling you live a lot farther than we care to travel. Also, he is part of the family so another family member would have to go to comfort him. The beast leaves us daily morsels on our front porch. He would not be afriad of any rat. The cat weighs 20 lbs. If the rat weighs the same he may rethink it. But he would give it his best shot. He does a number on dogs too. Plays like he likes them then goes for their eyes. He likes rabbits(his favorite), mice, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, etc. If the rodent is rather big it gets eaten only half at a time. So when people come over there usually is a half of a body on the front porch with blood flowing. He eats them whole---fur and all. He won't eat the squirrels tails. The snakes I don't usually like. He brings them home to play with first. While you are eating dinner you can hear the whack whack of him throwing it against the wall. Then when dinner is over you go out to the porch and its gone----but his belly is full. He is very neat and clean about it----except for the blood on the porch. I like to leave it out there around Halloween time just to give people something to think about. well, my suggestion is this: go to the humane society---ask to loan you a cat for a weekend. YOu will have to fill out neccessary papers but they are more than willing to loan out cats. Ask them for a mouser. Then you can return the cat once you are done. My kids have worked there and know how much these animals wouldlove to spend the weekend with you. Dont be surpised if they somehow enter your heart as well. My cat is a stray and i did not want him. But God had other plans and here he is. He has cost me more in vets bills than i would care to discuss but yes I have a special place for him in my heart. He knows when someone in the house is hurting---and he goes to that persons room and waits for them so he can comfort them. he is very loving. Will not claw anything get up on anything----God sent us a gift. We are thankful. Get the rats out before they take over. Quote
