I watched a very interesting documentary about Dr. Gerson. Has anyone ever watched The Beautiful Truth? If not I would suggest it. It shows how modern medicine has tried to cover up a natural way of curing cancer. Which I really believe to be true, because these pharmaceutical companies make a lot of $$$$ from ignorant people. When it isn't necessary.

So what is the cure?

It may sound simple, and I'm not sure what is in the diet. But you detoxify yourself and then change the diet. Doctors don't want you to know that the body heals itself naturally. Just have to stop putting poisons in the body to let it heal.

They did the same thing with Rene Caisse, Harry Hoxsey and Ann Wigmore. In the book When Healing Becomes a Crime there are 74 pages of references to back up the information, not just about Hoxsey's experiences, but about the scandalous origins and dealings of the AMA. I do not trust the medical establishment.

It's true. The body is very capable of healing itself if you quit poisoning it and give it what it needs.

Referring to your testimony Catherine from the other thread???

It changed your whole life around... Praise God.

That was just the beginning of my taking my health into my own hands. Doctors have failed me again and again.

Yes I agree, doctors never tell you that if you changed your diet and/or lifestyle you could, like reports have shown, add years to your life. And what bothers me is the SDA doctors don't seem to be any better. Why is that? We also know that if we followed the bible's suggestion of what to eat we would be better of. We know that ever since sin enter the world that we will all die sooner or later, and I think most pray that, later will be there fate.

I have pondered this. Seems like the vast majority of MD's and even DO's (SDA's, too) would rather just prescribe meds for a condition. Your visit is over and you are out the door. It's then up to your friendly pharmacist to figure out if all the meds you are now taking are compatible. You now have side effects to worry about that you haven't been warned of, either.

We have a couple 'holistic' doctors in Key West. Shouldn't ALL doctors be 'holistic'? Even specialty docs are ultimately dealing with the whole body, mind and soul.

If my toe hurts, does that not affect my whole day, interfering with my full happiness? If my hormones are out of balance, does that not produce problems throughout the body (and involve the emotions)?

No body part is an island, yet doctors have lost sight of that.

The reason is that few, if any, of their patients will make the diet or lifestyle changes they tell them they need to make. Doctors get just as tired of beating their heads against a brick wall as the rest of us.

But doctors also do not get any real training in nutrition, unless the individual medical student is very interested in it. Plus, they get continually bombarded with information about the benefits of drugs, since medical journals are sponsored by pharmaceutical companies.

Most doctors are honest and sincere, but most patients want to live their lives the way they feel like, and have the doctor give them drugs to spare them the natural consequences of their choices. If any given doctor won't do it that way, they find a different doctor. Doctors are human beings, though some of them want to be treated as gods, plus they have to make a living and pay off enormous student loans, so I think many of them eventually give up and just do what they know is expected of them.

That's an over-generalization. Whenever appropriate, I ALWAYS talk to my patients about diet and life-style changes. I know of others who do the same.

While diet is VERY important, if anyone thought diet ALONE is the cause or cure for every ailment, then I'd say, there goes another sucker. I think I can honestly say that very few people live more healthfully than me, yet I have had 2 serious cancers removed by surgery. Detoxify by diet when I was already following a healthy diet? I could be in the grave by now. Thank God, I am at this point disease free.

I see two economical points to this:

1) Doctors don't want to lose their patients to someone else (loss of revenue)

2) Doctors have loans and an expensive lifestyle to keep up. Take the path of least resistance to keep the revenue coming in.

Look, I'm all for living as healthy as one can, but all things are polluted even our veggies. What do you recommend? What are the more serious poisons? If meat, spell it out because this discussion isn't about if certain things are sinful, it's about what's good for the body. All ears....

Gerry, your diet may not be as healthy for you personally as you think. I have been vegan for years, but I found in the last few years that I have to eat mostly raw, organic fruits and vegetables, including green smoothies every day, to be as healthy as possible. Plus, just as you said, I also have to be diligent about getting plenty of sunlight, fresh air, exercise, water, and rest, and avoid stress.

I was amazed at the difference strength training made in my health, not just for weight control, muscle tone, and strength. Since about a year after I started strength training, I stopped catching colds and flu, even when my husband or son was very sick with it. Strength training was the only thing I'd changed. It actually changes your body chemistry.

Because of injuries that forced me to stop exercising and going for walks, plus some extremely stressful events over the past couple of years, and being unable for several months even to maintain my best diet, my health has deteriorated, and I am struggling now to get back on track. Yet I still didn't catch anything I was exposed during this past winter.

One of the things mentioned was a juicer. Not the typical juicer. But one that Gets every mineral/vitamin out of the veggie/fruit. You're basically drinking a large glass of this juice every hour. Consuming 20 lbs of fruit/veggies a day. There were other things too.

It isn't your typical healthy eating daily diet. It isn't something you do everyday. Its avoiding all poisons during the treatment, and flooding the body with organics.

The reason I said what I said is because diet is only one factor in the equation for good health. The water we drink is becoming more and more polluted. The ozone layer is getting depleted and we are subjected to more and more radiation. And heaven knows what other radiations we don't know about that we are being exposed to. I am wary about what seems to me like unrestricted use of radiation in diagnostic imaging procedures, i.e. CT scans, regular X-rays of various kinds, radioactive isotopes, etc. And then there's your DNA, over which you no control.

So, my recommendation? Of course, eat as healthfully as you can, make sure your water is pure. Avoid diagnostic procedures that involve radiation unless absolutely necessary. Get your rest, exercise, etc. But even after you've done all these things as I have done, don't be surprised if you might still come down with something lethal because there are other factors beyond our control.

If anyone wants to "detoxify", I would not discourage anyone. It probably would not harm anyone. But if you have a life-threatening condition, IMHO, it is foolish to put your life in that one basket. A number of treatment modalities that have been popular because they considered organic and non-toxic have been debunked by actual studies. Echinacea? Don't hear about anymore since it was studied and found ineffective. Glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate? Recent reports of good studies have shown no improvement of joint deterioration. Gingko? The 250 mg dose was found ineffective. The 500 mg dose? Iffy. Vitamin supplementation beyond adequate diets? Zero benefit! Saw palmetto? No benefit to controversial at best.

If there is anything to this "detoxification" process, I have no doubt it will soon be on the radar screen for further studies. Current medical practice has become "evidence-based", i.e. most treatments are now rated according to the level of confidence of their effectiveness based on studies done.

P.S.

There is no question that the SDA lifestyle extends people's life expectancy.

That's entirely possible. But how are you going to prove that? I don't get colds. No arthritic or chronic conditions. Yeah, I hurt my back lifting wts when I was in college that flares up now and then when I overdo certain things. Cancers usually take years to grow before they become detectable, at least with our present techonology. So it would be very difficult to see any additional benefit having further changes in my diet, but then, this old dog is open to new tricks.

I won't say you are wrong. But I have a hard time trusting conventional medicine. Yes, it may be necessary at times. What is interesting is, the people that have tried Gerson therapy, were patients that were told they were to die in 3 months. They check into a licensed Gerson clinic, take the therapy and are cured. It was their last ditch effort to survive and they did.

It is hard to trust most doctors now days because they are swayed to say what they are supposed to say because of $$$$. If they are honest they catch hell.

I've never had any reason to be uncertain. I've had plenty of health issues. I inherited some pretty bad genes. When I try something different, it doesn't take long at all to find out if it's good for me.

For years my diet was totally in line with all the teachings of Dr. Thrash and Dr. Diehl. But although I was much healthier than I had been before, it wasn't enough. I had to go beyond their teachings. There are many things that are healthy for other people that I can't eat. But I also have health issues where diet makes no difference at all. There are 8 laws of health, and every one is equally important.

There may be some way you could eat that would be better for you, or some lifestyle improvement. But the only way I know of to prove it would be if you had chronic conditions of some kind, and they went away. It doesn't sound like that would work for you. I really have no idea how you could find out what to change that might prevent you from ever dealing with cancer again.

But if you're that healthy, and if surgery alone took care of your cancer, if it were me, I probably wouldn't bother to try to find out. I'd just do the best I knew, as much as I could, and leave my life and health in God's hands. Which is what I actually do anyway.

I haven't got time tonight (or maybe I should say this morning) to answer that question. I'll need to look up some of my resources to share with you. And I want to tell you about my mother, who is not Adventist, and was very resistant to anything other than doctors and drugs, until recently. But my husband is planning on getting up early, so if I want to get any sleep tonight I need to leave it for later. I just wanted to let you know I am not ignoring your question.

Friend, I don't have a closed mind. Give me references to show its effectiveness and I will look it up. Testimonials don't mean a thing. There are all kinds of testimonials for facial cream, shampoo, breakfast cereals, pots and pans, snake oil; you name it.

What $$$$ do I for toeing or not toeing the medical party line? ZERO!!!
