Moderators Bravus Posted June 21, 2009 Moderators Posted June 21, 2009 So, 'leaving, on a jet plane' this afternoon - though I do know exactly when I'll be back again! I'm off to the EdMedia conference (google it if you're remotely interested) in Hawaii for this week. It's always a good conference, and I'll have a chance to catch up with some friends from Canada as well, and staying in Waikiki Beach for a week in the middle of Australian winter is not gonna be too tough to take either... I mainly posted this to let everyone know I won't be around much this week, but couldn't resist a mini-brag... I'm definitely grateful for the blessings in my life - and also worked very hard for a lot of years to be in this position. Truth is important
Amelia Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Noooo not too tough to take at all. LOL Prayin you have a safe flight! <p><span style="color:#0000FF;"><span style="font-weight:bold;"><span style="font-style:italic;">"Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what you say will do good to those who hear you."</span></span> Eph 4:29</span><br><br><img src="http://banners.wunderground.com/weathersticker/gizmotimetemp_both/US/OR/Fairview.gif" alt="Fairview.gif"> Fairview Or</p>

Moderators Gerr Posted June 22, 2009 Moderators Posted June 22, 2009 Waikiki is famous, but better swimming in Ala Moana beach.
Moderators Bravus Posted June 22, 2009 Author Moderators Posted June 22, 2009 Yeah, I hope to jump in the ocean tomorrow afternoon after I do my first presentation at the conference. I'm doing one tomorrow (Tuesday) and one on Thursday. Attended a good workshop by Tom Reeves, one of the gurus of the field, this morning, and will hopefully meet up with Christian, one of my online friends, this evening. He has a guitar to pass on to me from one of my other online friends. Definitely a salubrious environment in which to have a conference: here's the view out the window of the room I'm in... (the water looked bluer when the sun was out earlier): Truth is important
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted June 23, 2009 Administrators Posted June 23, 2009 I recall one time standing on the breakwall, I think right in front of your hotel (You are next to the Royal Hawaiian, I think...) watching sea turtles surfing on the waves right in front of me. "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
Neil D Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Did I read this right? You...going to Hawaii?...givening lectures? Boy, some one has it really rough.... OOOh, well... ...enjoy... OOoooooooh, I am SSSSSOOOOOOOO jealous..... I will admit right now....This has caused me to book a week in Hawaii with my Timeshare for this Feburary...Now, I gotta get flight tickets... Moderators Gerr Posted June 25, 2009 Moderators Posted June 25, 2009 The real you, Bravus, is so far off from what I imagined you to be!!!
olger Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Groovy, Man. And smug.. g "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Moderators Bravus Posted June 25, 2009 Author Moderators Posted June 25, 2009 Yeah, it does look smug. It's not really meant to. Stephen Fry, one of my favourite actors, has the same problem - tries to just be nice and smile and ends up looking smug. Of course, being unbelievably smart and cool and talented and productive, he has a lot more to be smug about than me... Anyway, the photos were *meant* to share the enjoyment and be interesting, not to do any kind of I'm-here-and-you're-not dealio... Truth is important

Moderators Nan Posted June 28, 2009 Moderators Posted June 28, 2009 The test appears to have been passed.....this thread has changed (as in permitting new posts) since I tried the other night.
Ted Oplinger Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Bravus, You look more satisfied than smug...but definitely the motorcycle and the beach area are blessings enjoyed. Ted "As iron sharpens iron, so also does one man sharpen another" - Proverbs 27:17 "The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J. Waggoner, The Glad Tidings "Courage is being scared to death - and saddling up anyway" - John Wayne "The person who pays an ounce of principle for a pound of popularity gets badly cheated" - Ronald Reagan
