wayfinder Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Mark 7:21-23 "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride and foolishness. "All these evil things proceed from within and defile the man." Strong's number 2588: Kardia (where we get cardiac/heart)(I had to say that because I am a cardiology RN) 1.the soul or mind, as it is the fountain and seat of the thoughts, passions, desires, appetites, affections, purposes, endeavours It would appear to me that what the Son of God is speaking of is the spirit (soul if you will) not the flesh. In the Romans 7 text Paul is saying the his sinful flesh is making war with his righteous (soul)Strong's number 3563, Nous: 1.the mind, comprising alike the faculties of perceiving and understanding and those of feeling, judging, determining a.the intellectual faculty, the understanding b.reason in the narrower sense, as the capacity for spiritual truth, the higher powers of the soul, the faculty of perceiving divine things, of recognising goodness and of hating evil Strong's Number: 4561, Sarx:2.the animal nature with cravings which incite to sin (Paul uses this word for flesh) What the Son of God is saying, using Paul's analogy, is that the spirit (heart) is the seat of iniquity (from within). The scantification process is designed to purify the heart (mind). I am not aware of any place where the Son of God made any distinction between heart and flesh as far as righteousness and wickedness. Quote

Robert Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 You said it, Paul is preaching Heresy. No, Strong is preaching heresy Quote

TreeOfLife Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Objective or Subjective Words of God? Shalom, Tree of Life. . . . What Romans 3: 7 (or any other verse) actually says is more or less objective. On the other hand, what it "means to you" in the sense in which you spoke of it in your previous post is more subjective than objective. . . . Quote http://adamoh.org
BobRyan Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 What is Paul saying in Romans 3: 7? First let's read the verse in context in 3 different translations to understand Paul's meaning: 1) Amplified Bible-- Romans 3: 3-8 What if some did not believe and were without faith? Does their lack of faith and their faithlessness nullify and make ineffective and void the faithfulness of God and His fidelity [to His Word]? 4 By no means! Let God be found true though every human being is false and a liar, as it is written, That You may be justified and shown to be upright in what You say, and prevail when You are judged [by sinful men].(A) Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin."
