Just think of the opportunity this gives Gates and Obama. Surely more than cooperating with the police or in Obama's case shutting big mouth instead of saying"don't know the facts but the cop acted stupidly" Said by the most intelligent man to ever occupy the white house

Everyone was screaming racism ... but when the tapes were disclosed .... there was NO mention of race. I just heard the poor woman who reported the 911 call ... give a statement to the press. She had been falsely accused of racism . When the tapes were played ... this was clearly disproved.

Obama should keep his mouth shut until he knows the facts.

Like to know why some reporter thought it necessary to ask the President about this? Did they just want to stir up some controversy, because they sure did.

No one made the president to respond as he did. The reporter did not make Gates behave as he did.

This brillant man that holds this office might be expected not to condemn and call the actions of anyone stupid and then add he didn't know what happened.

Wonder why the president didn't stop to think that his careless remarks unjustified and uncalled for conduct may feed what he says he would like to stop.

It is his and Professor Gates responsibility, not the reporter.

Maybe he should just behave like an adult and leader of the country. Either keep his mouth shut or apologize when he says something this stupid and damaging

I'm not saying that Obama is off the hook for his comments. I'm just wondering why no one is wondering how a news conference about health care all of a sudden gets hijacked into something else. I know that on this forum it doesn't take very long for all to get on anyone that hijacks the thread. But when the President makes a ignorant remake no one questions why the news conference is being hijacked. I'm pretty sure that if Bush were having a conference on Iraq and someone asked him a question about his drinking problems of 500 years ago, and Bush gave a ignorant answer, I know of a few people on this forum that would be on that like white on rice. I know for me as I was watching that news conference was why is this reporter asking a question that has nothing to do with the news conference. And I couldn't believe that the president was even answering it, let alone putting his foot in his mouth. He should have just said "No comment".

Call me a cynic but I don't think the question was a surprise.

It was asked as a last question.

The media tiptoes around this man and gets a thrill up their leg when he speaks,I doubt anyone would lay that one out there without Obama's knowledge.

As to him saying "no comment" it wouldn't still be a focus of attention if he had.

With the attacks on this woman that called in to 911 what Obama created with his using the bully pulpit to make stupid, ill informed comments shows far more about the man that holds the highest office of the land.

When he can say "I really don't know anything about the incident but the cop was acting stupidly" he is either a racist himself or he is stupid. Stupid can't be it as he is reported to be the smartest man to hold this office. To bad he is not bright enough to act as we have all tried to instill in our very young children. A simple "I am sorry, what I said was out of line" would have spoke volumnes about this man. A lack of doing so has also spoken volumnes

Why did the POLICE officer write in his report that she said there were "two black men with back packs" ?? somebody's not telling the truth here.

In our family we call that a apology with disclaimers. An sincere apology would have simply said,"I was wrong and had no right to say what I did"

We really need to be careful when talking about others. President Bush may have had his problems but he was a pretty good moral example. He did have a bit of a potty mouth at times but for the most part, he did a good job.

"sigh" BROTHER Shane, most people know the story and that it wasn't alcoholic. I always like to stir the pot with Redwood.

"We really need to be careful when talking about others" are you kidding me with all the crazy talk about Obama on this politics forum. LOL.

By any measure George Bush did not do a good job. He failed at his first task of keeping the country safe. He cost the country Billions of dollars in a mistake that was the war in Iraq and there's this economic crisis thing!! He had very little domestic policy achievements. In every major area of responsibility Bush did a poor job. He didn't even deliver on the social issues.

911 was a failure that any and all presidents would have made. Those like yourself would have mocked and condemned Bush if he had known and warned us a attack was likly and imminent

Because you say it was a mistake does not make it a reality.

and there's this economic crisis thing!!

Yes,the economic thing. This economic thing belongs firmly in the lap of Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. Bush brought this to their attention at least a dozen times, told them it was a trainwreck about to happen

Barney Frank and Chris Dodd ridiculed that fact and denied anything was wrong almost up to the the day this exploded.

Barney Frank now wants to turn around and do the same thing again

Maybe the failed mortgage bailouts. Now that is hope and change working for you. "Come one, come all",if you lied on your mortgage we will help you. Great plan, Did you know it is failing as those that lied are behind in their mortgages again.

Social issues like health care, take some time and research how many times this had bills introduced.

Knowledge of what is in there is not necessary to people like yourself that back every word out of the mouth of Obama. Obama doesn't know,he has said so,his cronies don't know and refuse to read it as it would take 2 lawyers to explain it. Most that are backing it don't know either.

But pass that bill any way. WE will worry about what we passed later. Wrong or right we are doing something

Maybe you mean like Obama's enormous stimulus. Maybe the take over of the auto industry.

It would be interesting to see what you believe Obama's achievements are.

Could it be the 31 czars that he personally picked and answer only to him? Against the constitution but just step over that.

Could it be the most transparent administration ever

1st Latina supreme court justice (probably)

that will do for now

State Children’s Health Insurance Program passed expanding health coverage to 4 million children over the next 10 years.

Obama didn't begin this.It also covers a great many children of middle income families. I believe it is between 50,000.00-75,000.00

If you have children and have that as income and don't insure your own children you should not be bring

A typical poor American family with children works only 800 hours during a year (16 hours of work per week).[9] If it worked 40 hours per week instead of 16, poverty would be mostly eliminated.[9]

Then perhaps you best be working more than 16 hours a week.

A typical American categorized as poor has good condition housing. Most have at least two rooms per person and more space than middle-class people in Paris, London, Vienna, Athens, and other cities throughout Europe. Over three quarters have a car and a third of poor Americans have two cars. Poor Americans have air conditioning, a refrigerator, a stove, a clothes washer and dryer, and a microwave oven, two color televisions, cable or satellite TV reception, a VCR or DVD player, and a stereo.[9][10] Most poor Americans report zero financial or material problems.[9]ing children into the world.

Work more than 16 hours a wekk. Get rid of the air conditioning,VCR,Cable DVD player, stereo and the second car. All of a sudden you can pay your own way.

What a novel idea.

Those 50,000.00 and above, pay your own way and then we can give adequetly to those that actually need it
