why are there sections of sequenced ‘junk’ in our genome which are disturbingly similar to the DNA of viruses?

So, were you a scientist, how would you interpret the above statement? Might the genome sequences, which similarly track the DNA of viruses, point you back to an earlier possibility/probability or forward to a future potential? Mebbe, Gd just

created ‘junk’?

Profound, indeed; moreover,

>>evolutionism is a whole forrest of "mebbe"s and little else.<<

Quite an assertion. Parochial, but assertion nevertheless – almost an acolyte’s Zen.

>>No wonder Colin Patterson refers to its essence as "antiknowledge".<,

So, Colin Patterson is cute. Hoorah.

>>no wonder Patterson laments the evolutionists "stories easy enough to make up but they are not science".<<

Oh, Colin, give me a freakin’ break! How vacant! The simple act of such as coring the Mediterranean seabed and dwelling upon the evidence dropped at one’s feet – is science. That act of ‘investigation’ can be multiplied by the multiples within the scientific community – and, dare I say, is exposition upon Gd’s Creation. The evidence is interpreted as well and as poorly as any expositor might Gd’s Holy Writ. And, might I add,

there is sufficient arrogant wrong-headedness to satisfy – from both so-called evolutionists and creationists.

Science: ”The observation, identification, description, experimental investigation, and theoretical explanation of phenomena”

>>To the evolutionist - no lack of facts, no wrench of science is deemed to be a "problem" for their misplaced faith in the "only origins story acceptable to an atheist".<<

There is always the third way. Are you familiar with theories on Quantum Evolution? It has been suggested that it is to evolutionary orthodoxy what digital is to analog.

Addendum: I am getting the impression that the slothful ‘faith indeed’ adherents prefer to nullify Gd’s Holy Writ that they might take their intellectual ease.

Aside from the text I’ve previously proffered re that ‘written’ in Gd’s Creation – there is the proverbial suggestion to go to ant... that, I suppose, one might encounter ‘Biblical’ science?

Posted

>>So, can we accept, as the title of this thread implies, that evolutionism and creationism are opposing belief systems?

That is the point.<<

...depends upon how one might define ‘evolutionism’. It evolves, as does Biblical ‘truths’.

>>Evolutionism is not science. It is religion masquerading as science.<<

Tchah. Dogmatic rote.

>>And in a head-to-head comparison of the two religions, creationism wins hands down.<<

Perhaps, that is why I am a creationist ‘per se’.

>>The observable reality (not the fairy-tale evolutionary assumptions about it, but the actual reality) supports creationism.<<

You mean like the ‘observable’ writings of Moses?

>>Irreducible complexity is real.<<

Indeed? so, Adam and Eve may not have been so irreducible, yes?

>>The existence of consciousness is real.<<

Indeed. Is awareness consciousness? Yes? Well then, even plants give evidence of consciousness, yes? even in single-cell life forms, yes?

>>The information in DNA is real.<<

Let us hope.

>>That information is never spontaneously generated is observable.<<

I’m flummoxed.

>>That life always derives from life is real.<<

In what manner of speaking? Would that put the kibosh on AI?

>>The absence of transitional forms is real.<<

How transitional is transitional? How closely must that transitioned represent that from which it transitioned? It may be that transitional forms may emerge too distant for us to recognize them as “transitional”.

>>That evolutionism offers no hope is real.<<

It is my hope that I, redeemed in Jesus Christ, will someday evolve from a wretched captive of a carnal tabernacle to that more representing a higher being – and that I should shine as a thousand suns.

>>Give me creationism any day.<<

It is a free gift. It is yours for the taking; a matter of choice.

"Salient" is a funny word to use for creation.

If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony.

Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

How about "blatant?" God has trumpeted His creative power from the minutely small to the infinitely large. Order is everywhere. Intelligence is everywhere.. well, almost everywhere. His creation delights the senses and challenges the mind.

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!

The self-blinded evolutionary "scientists" have arrays of powerful antennae pointed at outer space looking for any kind of intelligent pattern of signals, which, if detected, will mean we have found intelligent life "out there." Yet they can't recognize intelligent patterns in every cell of God's creation "right here."

Makes you wonder.

Mark Twain's Huck Finn - "Tears and Flapdoodle" I think this chapter came pretty nigh onto "Hogwash and Soul Butter."

Loved it.

I've wondered before whether quoting yourself was a sign of narcissism (just kidding.)

If there are any sequences in our genome similar to those of viruses, I would think the viruses were copies of the human DNA rather than the other way around.

There is no doubt in my mind that Satan has tried to create life. He wants to be God. Viruses are probably the closest he can come. They are a parasitic form of encapsulated nucleic acid chain that can infect living cells, but cannot live on their own.

...what I’ve been trying to point out – to the obtuse. We might wanna oughta learn from it.

>>well, almost everywhere.<<

That is either self-indicting or pejorative bwink

>>His creation delights the senses...<<

And, sometimes scares the bejiminy outa the cognizant.

>>...and challenges the mind.<<

As – I’ve been saying...

>>Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!<<

As well, imprecations and cursings...

>>The self-blinded evolutionary "scientists" have arrays of powerful antennae pointed at outer space looking for any kind of intelligent pattern of signals,<<

Is that an assertion that the SETI scientists are, by nature, evolutionists?

>>...which, if detected, will mean we have found intelligent life "out there."<<

We’s already found them – and them – us. Soon-like, they’s gonna be fillin’up our skies with thems shinin’ thingees – bringin’ us’ns alla thems naturalborn wonderfuls and miraculums!

>>Yet they can't recognize intelligent patterns in every cell of God's creation "right here."<<

I think they recognize more than we do. The difference between them and us is – they seek to perceive and to understand; whereas, we just take it on hearing. That’s good and that’s bad – moreso, for us.

>>Makes you wonder.<<

Indeed. One wonders how the Xtian Wm Blake could have been a secular artist and have found an entire universe in a grain of sand – whilst we find it impossible.

Take it to the hospital.

You mean, absent a host, a virus is without life - by any definition?

What about aerosolized viruses?

Hospital? your statement? forbear!

Viruses are without metabolism nor can they self-replicate. They are one-shot chemically triggered nucleic acid injectors. They can only hijack the cellular processes of living cells and get them to make more one-shot nucleic acid injectors.
