Neil D Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I am NOT implying that my Uncle Redwood spreads rumors, just that his weed reminded me of "the Rumor weed". Why not? He grows poppys....... Dottie Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 My comment isn't going to fit, because it ain't funny. Have you tried "Roundup?" It kills weeds, but don't get it on the good plants. It comes in spray and foam versions. Quote

Members phkrause Posted August 13, 2009 Members Posted August 13, 2009 Good one Richard. Redwood, last year I drove to florida to do some stuff at my mom's. On the way I stop in at my brothers, he asked me to bring my chainsaw. He had these two big weeds growing on either side of his house. So if you want send me and my chainsaw a ticket and we'll be out to cut it down. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. GreatLakesGramma Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Who says it's a problem? That depends on what kind of plant it is. What is it, Redwood? Guest Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I'm glad you stood that thing up Amelia. It was hurting my neck to look at it. Quote
Guest Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I thought Redwood was laying down when he took the picture. Quote
Woody Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 Thanks for straightening me out Amelia. Now if only I had enough intelligence to figure out how to do that myself. Woody Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 Who says it's a problem? That depends on what kind of plant it is. What is it, Redwood? It's not a plant ... it's weed. Here is a close up for you experts to identify: Actually ... Blanche was not sure if it was weed or plant. So, she decided to let it grow and look what happened. Sorry to hurt your neck again Richard. I still can't get things straight. Amelia where are you? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Administrators Gail Posted August 13, 2009 Administrators Posted August 13, 2009 You know, if that is edible that's a LOT of salad! And if you snip off the top it will grow out bushier! Members phkrause Posted August 13, 2009 Members Posted August 13, 2009 Richard you'd be surprised how tuff some of those weeds (tree's) can get. My brother and his wife couldn't get anyone to do it for less than a few hundred bucks. Unreal pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
GreatLakesGramma Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 It's not a plant ... it's weed. weed: 1. a valueless plant growing wild, esp. one that grows on cultivated ground to the exclusion or injury of the desired crop. 2. any undesirable or troublesome plant, esp. one that grows profusely where it is not wanted: The vacant lot was covered with weeds. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Woody Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 Point well taken Catherine. But Blanche tells me that a friend of the church who is a Master Gardener looked at it and said she had never seen anything like it. She didn't know if it was 'weed' or not. It wasn't here last year. I may be alien. And I am opposed to illegals. It is definitely 'illegal'. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
GreatLakesGramma Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I prefer to call them wild plants until I know enough about them to assess their value. I don't find anything even remotely resembling this plant in my edible wild plants book. It looks somewhat familiar though. Does it have any flowers on it? If it does, I can probably find out what it is. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis
Woody Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 No flowers yet. But it does look like it is ready to with buds. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
GreatLakesGramma Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Get pictures when it blooms. Then I'll look in my wildflower field guide. I'm almost sure I've seen this before. Woody Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 Whoops. I could be in BIG trouble then. It does look like it is still growing. And it is fun to see how tall it may grow. Ha Ha Ha.
